So I recently watched Money Monster and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Lee Gates (played by George Clooney) is a Wall Street guru who picks hot stocks as host of the television show "Money Monster." Suddenly, during a live broadcast, disgruntled investor Kyle Budwell (played by Jack O'Connell) storms onto the set and takes Gates hostage. He tells Lee that he lost everything on one of his tips. As Gates tries to plead with Kyle, he's also using an earpiece to communicate with his longtime producer (played by Julia Roberts) in the control room. Together, they must figure out a way to defuse the situation and disarm the angry young man.
This was a pretty disappointing film. The film has everything you want in a film, It has a great cast led by Academy Award winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts, an Oscar caliber actor in Jack O'Connell, a story that really has a lot of interesting themes and a director that was very talented in front of the camera and has a done a decent job behind it. when you see all of those things, you expect a film that is going to dive deep into issues we care while sending you on this mystery hunt to find the source of the films main problems and none of that really happens. Anything that does happen in the film isn't really explained well and it all just feels forced. at times the film feels cheesy and it looks like nobody gave any time or effort into the process of making the film. The performances are pretty typical from the main trio and none of them standout due to the fact that everything is just convoluted. With little to no explanation in anything that is going on, the film can be quite predictable and if you watched the trailer, then everything was explained in at and you you shouldn't really waste your time or money with the film. Overall the film is a basic paint by numbers film with mediocre performances from a very talented trio of actors. I give Money Monster a 2.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Money Monster, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
