My Review of The Angry Birds Movie

So I recently watched The Angry Birds Movie and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Flightless birds lead a mostly happy existence, except for Red (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), who just can't get past the daily annoyances of life. His temperament leads him to anger management class, where he meets fellow misfits Chuck (voiced by Josh Gad) and Bomb (voiced by Danny McBride). Red becomes even more agitated when his feathered brethren welcome green pigs to their island paradise. As the swine begin to get under his skin, Red joins forces with Chuck and Bomb to investigate the real reason behind their mysterious arrival.

This was a pretty uneventful  film. Now it may seem like a cashgrab to make this type of film simply because it is one of the most popular apps that people use on their phones throughout a daily basis. The story of the game is relatively simple and easy to understand and so it the films story and that is a little bit of a downer because the filmmakers had a lot of possibilities to make this film into something really unique and different. Instead you get a fairly predictable film that just really ins't doesn't grab a hold of you. The jokes in the film were the biggest letdown. Usually in any recent animated film (unless otherwise known beforehand) tend to have a few jokes for adults so that they have a good time and make it worth their while and there are very little if not any jokes towards adults which is really surprising. It's surprising because of the cast that's involved which includes the likes of Jason Sudekis, Danny McBride and Bill Hader are usually in films where a lot of adult jokes are made and it just shocks me they would sign on to this film without those gutbusting jokes. The animation is pretty gorgeous and it really captures the essence of the game such as the style and design of the characters. Also while the jokes aren't there, the voice performances are pretty great and they each fit their characters well. Overall this film is truly made for kids and they'll enjoy it, but if you're an adult don't expect to be fully entertained or laugh as much. I give The Angry Birds Movie a 5.5 out of 10.
