My Top 10 Favorite James Bond films

One of the most iconic characters in film history is James Bond. He has been portrayed on film by 6 different actors and with Spectre being released this weekend, it marks the 24th entry into the franchise. With that being said I'm going to bring you my top favorite James Bond films of all-time. So without further ado...

10. Octopussy
Octopussy

I honestly don't care what anyone says, this is one of the best Bond titles of all-time. This time 007 (played by Roger Moore) must deal with a crazy Russian general (played by Steven Berkoff) who wants to blow up West Germany with a nuclear bomb. In order to stop him, Bond must join forces with the title villainess. Octopussy has a rating of 42% on rottentomatoes.com.

9. Thunderball
 Thunderball

This is a fantastic film and it inrtoduced one of the most recognizable terror organizations in film history. In the fourth of the Sean Connery James Bond films, Bond (played by Sean Connery) matches wits with the sinister espionage organization SPECTRE. This time, SPECTRE hijacks a NATO nuclear bomber, hiding the bombs under the ocean depths and threatening to detonate the weapons unless a ransom of 100,000,000 pounds is paid. Thunderball has a rating of 86% on rottentomatoes.com.

8. Diamonds Are Forever
 Diamonds Are Forever

Like the previous film it uses the secret organization Spectre, but this time introduce the man who inspired the character of Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers franchise. In this spy adventure, James Bond (played by Sean Connery) is involved in a scheme by the insidious Ernst Blofeld (played by Charles Gray) to force the world powers to disarm so that he can take over the globe. Diamonds Are Forever has a rating of 67% on rottentomatoes.com.

7. The Spy Who Loved Me
The Spy Who Loved Me

This is a brilliant film and most consider it one of the best, if not the best Bond films of all-time as well as introducing one of the greatest henchmen in film history... Jaws. James Bond (played by Roger Moore) investigates the hijacking of British and Russian submarines carrying nuclear warheads with the help of a KGB agent whose lover he killed. The Spy Who Loved Me was nominated for 3 Academy Awards including Best Original Score, Best Original Song and Best Art Direction and it has a rating of 79% on rottentomatoes.com.

6. Moonraker
Moonraker

This is such a campy and fun Bond film.   James Bond (played by Roger Moore) investigates the mid-air theft of a space shuttle and discovers a plot to commit global genocide from the sinister Hugo Drax (played by Micheal Lonsdale). Moonraker has a rating of 62% on rottentomatoes.com.

5. The World is Not Enough
The World Is Not Enough

This isn't the best Bond film by a longshot, but it is still a great and fun film. In the 19th Bond adventure, 007 (played by Pierce Brosnan) must resolve a potentially deadly power struggle between two unstable nations, with control of the world's oil supply as the ultimate prize. Bond is assigned as bodyguard to Elektra King (played by Sophie Marceau), the daughter of a petroleum magnate who was brutally murdered, and is trying to foil the fiendish plot of Renard (played by Robert Carlyle), a villain who was shot in the head with an unusual result: he cannot feel physical pain, an apparent failing that proves to be a considerable asset. The World is Not Enough has a rating of 51% on rottentomatoes.com.

4. GoldenEye
GoldenEye

This is such a fun film and it was a really different take on the James Bond franchise. As the story begins, Agent 007 James Bond (played by Pierce Brosnan) and his partner, Agent 006 (played by Sean Bean), pull a daring raid on a chemical weapons plant in the Soviet Union; however, they are captured by Russian troops, and while Bond is able to escape, 006 is not so lucky. Several years later, the Soviet Union and the Cold War are a thing of the past, but Bond is still at work ferreting out evildoers everywhere. Xenia Onatopp (played by Famke Janssen), a beautiful but vicious villain working with the Russian Mafia, spearheads the theft of the controls to GoldenEye, a high-tech satellite weapons system, and with her gunmen, she kills most of the soldiers and guards at a top-secret military facility in the process. Bond joins forces with Natalya Simonova (played by Izabella Scorupco), one of the base's few survivors, to help track down Onatopp's minions and the controls to GoldenEye, which can destroy all electronic circuits in a given area in a matter of seconds; however, in time, Bond discovers the true identity of the criminal mastermind who is behind this bid for unholy power and world domination -- none other than Alec Trevelyan, the man Bond once knew as 006. GoldenEye has a rating of 82% on rottentomatoes.com.

3. Dr. No
Dr. No

This is the film that started one of the greatest franchises of all-time and had this film failed then we wouldn't have James Bond today. James Bond (played by Sean Connery)'s investigation of a missing colleague in Jamaica leads him to the island of the mysterious Dr. No (played by Joseph Wiseman) and a scheme to end the US space program. Dr. No has a rating of 98% on rottentomatoes.com.

2. Goldfinger
Goldfinger

This is one of my favorite Bond films and it really put the Bond film franchise on the map.  Bond (played by Sean Connery) gets his Aston Martin, spars with two statuesque British beauties (played by Honor Blackman and Shirley Eaton) and pits his wits against a memorable villain, Auric Goldfinger (played by Gert Fröbe). Goldfinger has a rating of 96% on rottentomatoes.com,

1. Skyfall
Skyfall

This is the best Bond film to date and it proved that Bond is back for good. In Skyfall, James Bond (played by Daniel Craig)'s loyalty to M (played by Dame Judi Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. Skyfall was nominated for Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Cinematography while winning 2 (Best Original Song and Best Sound Editing) and it has a rating of 92% on rottentomatoes.com.
