So I recently watched Spectre and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...........
A cryptic message from Bond (played by Daniel Craig)'s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M (played by Ralph Finnes) battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind Spectre.
This was an underwhelming film. Coming off the heels of the greatness that was Skyfall, a lot of people expected this film to hopefully be better and it just wasn't. Granted trying to meet the expectations of Skyfall is a hard task and this film was set-up to fail from the beginning. This film does do a few things better than Skyfall and one of those is the cinematography by Hoyte van Hoytema and if The Revenant wasn't coming out this year, then I would go ahead and give this man the Oscar because the cinematography in the film is just that good. Daniel Craig's performance is slightly better and he gives somewhat of a more depressed yet action-filled performance. Director Sam Mendes puts his stamp on the franchise and being that this is the last Bond film he will do, then he couldn't have left on a better note. The music was also fluid as well and Thomas Newman just continues to create beautiful pieces of music that just fit the film so well. The biggest flaw in the film is the story and while it is very compelling and connective as it ties up everything that happened in the other Daniel Craig Bond films (Casino Royale, Quantom of Solace and Skyfall) it just doesn't feel like a Bond film. Christoph Waltz does an amazing job every time he is on screen, but he should've been used much more than he was and also Dave Bautista did a fantastic job as Hinx and he really fit the mold of the quintessential Bond henchman. Overall this was a nice addition to the Bond franchise, but it could've been a whole lot better than it was. I give Spectre a 9 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Spectre, what would you rate it and what did you think about my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
