Hello ladies and gentlemen, Since I didn't get to bring you news from yesterday I figured that I would combine today's and yesterday's news (3 stories from each day). So here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

Ant-Man star Paul Rudd is joining Alexander Skarsgard (“True Blood,” Tarzan) for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Mute. The project has long been a passion project for director Duncan Jones (Moon, Warcraft). Mute is based on a script by Jones and Mike Johnson and is set in Berlin, forty years from today. There, a roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West in a science-fiction Casablanca. Leo Beiler (Skarsgard), a mute bartender has one reason and one reason only for living here, and she’s disappeared. But when Leo’s search takes him deeper into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons (led by Rudd) seem to be the only recurring clue, and Leo can’t tell if they can help, or who he should fear most.  “I’ve been working towards making ‘Mute’ for 12 years now,” says Jones. “I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that we’re finally going to shoot this utterly unique film. The fact that I get to make it with Alexander Skarsgard and Paul Rudd makes it all the more exciting! ‘Mute’ is a film that will last. It is unlike any other science fiction being made today.” Mute will be produced by Stuart Fenegan under Jones and Fenegan’s Liberty Films banner. Lotus Entertainment has come on board to handle international sales starting at the upcoming AFM. CAA, who arranged for the financing, is handling the domestic sale. Lotus’ Bill Johnson, Jim Seibel, and Ara Keshishian will serve as executive producers. “We’re very excited to work with Duncan and Stuart,” says Seibel. “They are an immensely talented team that will surely deliver an exciting and cinematic film. Director Duncan Jones is a true visionary filmmaker and the real deal. It’s his caliber of talent that makes storytelling both visually exciting and captivating.” “Bill, Jim and Ara share the same passion I do for building another vision of the future with Duncan,” adds Fenegan. “I look forward to going on this journey with them, and also reuniting with Sam Rockwell and composer Clint Mansell… can’t do sci-fi without Sam and Clint!” Production on Mute is scheduled to start in March 2016.

This is terrific casting. Both Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard are just tremendous acting talents and they both have very different styles so I'm very curious to see there chemistry together. The film itself sounds really interesting and that that it's been described as a sci-fi Casablanca really just peaks my interest. It also helps that you have Duncan Jones directing the film and he is just brilliant as a director and I think he is going to do a fantastic job with the film and I cannot wait to see it.

With Chris Evans having already departed DreamWorks’ upcoming adaptation of Paula Hawkins‘ runaway bestseller The Girl on the Train due to previously foreseen scheduling conflicts, Oscar-winner Jared Leto has now also been forced to back out for the same reasons. Fortunately, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that another “Evans” has come to the rescue: Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6, Dracula Untold) will replace Leto in the film. Evans will join the previously-announced stars Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow, Into the Woods), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Hercules), Justin Theroux (“The Leftovers,” Wanderlust) and Haley Bennett (The Equalizer, The Hole) in the Tate Taylor (The Help, Get on Up) film. DreamWorks picked up the rights to The Girl on the Train movie in 2014 and had Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary) begin the adaptation process even before the novel was published in January by Riverhead Books and sold over 2 million copies worldwide. It was the #1 book on the New York Times bestseller list for 19 weeks following its release. On Hawkins’ official site, “The Girl on the Train” is officially described as follows: Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Unable to keep it to herself, Rachel offers what she knows to the police, and becomes inextricably entwined in what happens next, as well as in the lives of everyone involved. Has she done more harm than good? Blunt is set to play Rachel with Theroux taking the role of Rachel’s ex husband, Tom. Ferguson, then, is Anna, Tom’s new wife, while Bennett and Evans are to play a married neighbor couple that wind up inextricably tied to the plot. The Girl on the Train movie will be produced by Marc Platt and Jared LeBoff for Marc Platt Productions.

This is a great choice for a replacement. Luke Evans is a guy who has really improved as an actor in recent years and he is a really good choice for just about any film. I really would have loved to have seen both Chris Evans and Jared Leto in the film, but I completely understand why they aren't in the film because they are both huge stars now and are involved in a few franchises. I do however think Luke Evans is a great choice for the film and the film itself sounds really amazing and I cannot wait to see it.

Although production began on the fifth Jason Bourne movie last month, the cast of the Paul Greengrass film continues to grow today, as Variety reports that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Riz Ahmed has signed on for a supporting role. According to the trade, Riz Ahmed will play a CIA tech specialist. The still-untitled fifth entry in the action franchise, Bourne 5 will feature the return of Academy Award-winning actor Matt Damon to the title role with The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum helmer Paul Greengrass back in the director’s chair. Little is known about the plot of the new film, although it has been confirmed that it will not feature a crossover between Damon’s Bourne and Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross. Julia Stiles will be reprising her franchise role, however, with Ex Machina and The Man From U.N.C.L.E.‘s Alicia Vikander also set to star alongside franchise newcomers Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassell and Scott Shepherd. Although still unconfirmed, Jones is rumored to be playing a high-ranking CIA official with Cassell starring as the film’s chief antagonist, an assassin on Jason Bourne’s tail. “Without giving too much of it away, it’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world,” Damon recently told BuzzFeed about the sequel. “It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.” According to the trade, Riz Ahmed was always the first choice for his Bourne 5 role, although scheduling with production on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was a bit of a hurdle. Fortunately, Riz Ahmed will now be able to do both, with Bourne 5 slated to hit the big screen July 29, 2016 and Rogue One following on December 16, 2016.

I really love this casting. This guy is spectacular and I'm only basing that off of his brilliant performance in Nightcrawler which is the only film I've seen from him. I think this is a great role for him to help build his filmography and I think his role will be small like Walton Goggins's role was in the first Bourne film. I'm glad that another Bourne film is happening with both Damon and Greengrass and I'm really excited to see how they build on the mythology of Jason Bourne.

Following four teases this week, Walt Disney Pictures has now released the first Alice Through the Looking Glass trailer, which you can watch below. If you missed them, you can still watch this week’s teases by clicking here. Previously, footage from Alice Through the Looking Glass was showcased for Disney fans during August’s D23 Expo. In Disney’s Alice Through the Looking Glass, an all-new spectacular adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories, Alice returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter. Directed by James Bobin, who brings his own unique vision to the spectacular world Tim Burton created on screen in 2010 with Alice in Wonderland, the film is written by Linda Woolverton based on characters created by Lewis Carroll and produced by Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd and Tim Burton with John G. Scotti serving as executive producer. Alice Through the Looking Glass reunites the all-star cast from the worldwide blockbuster phenomenon, including: Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter along with the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall. We are also introduced to several new characters: Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans), the Mad Hatter’s father and Time himself (Sacha Baron Cohen), a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock. Alice Kingsleigh (Wasikowska) has spent the past few years following in her father’s footsteps and sailing the high seas. Upon her return to London, she comes across a magical looking glass and returns to the fantastical realm of Underland and her friends the White Rabbit (Sheen), Absolem (Rickman), the Cheshire Cat (Fry) and the Mad Hatter (Depp), who is not himself. The Hatter has lost his Muchness, so Mirana (Hathaway) sends Alice on a quest to borrow the Chronosphere, a metallic globe inside the chamber of the Grand Clock which powers all time. Returning to the past, she comes across friends – and enemies – at different points in their lives, and embarks on a perilous race to save the Hatter before time runs out. Alice Through the Looking Glass opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.

To be perfectly honest this has to be one of the worst trailers I have seen this year and that's not an exaggeration. Look I thought the first film was an ok film and when it made over $1 billion, then you knew a sequel was on the way. This film just looks like a mess and it complete cgi disaster. I'm not sure why Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen is back for the film because I honestly think her character will serve no purpose. But let's get to the real problem which is Johnny Depp. Now look I know a lot of you out their love Johnny Depp passionately and think he is just absolutely terrific in every single film. Let me be perfectly honest, I'm a fan of him as well, but the films he has done recently have been garbage (the exception is Black Mass) and he hasn't been in good in any of them. I thought that after his Oscar-worthy performance in Black Mass, he would go back to being the old Johnny Depp who churned out terrific performance over and over again. Now he could've been locked into a contract where he is obligated to return for a sequel if one was made, but that's his fault for getting stuck in the situation in the first place. Hopefully this is the last time we see him in another goofy and stupid role where he virtually plays the same character in every single film.

The Weinstein Company has debuted a brand spanking new trailer for The Hateful Eight, the latest film from Academy Award-winning writer/director Quentin Tarantino (Django Unchained, Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction). Check out The Hateful Eight trailer below. The Weinstein Company will release The Hateful Eight in select theaters on December 25, 2015 with an exclusive two-week roadshow opening in 70mm. Following the two-week engagement, the film will open with a digital theatrical release nationwide on January 8, 2016, while continuing to be shown in 70mm as well. The lead cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern. Written and directed by Tarantino, The Hateful Eight is produced by Richard N. Gladstein, Stacey Sher and Shannon McIntosh. Harvey Weinstein, Bob Weinstein and Georgia Kacandes are executive producing, and Coco Francini and William Paul Clark are associate producing. Spaghetti-western legend Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) is expected to provide an original score. In The Hateful Eight, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

This was a really great trailer. Now granted it was nowhere near as good as the first one, but this was a nice trailer that would get the casual fan and a Tarantino fan (like myslef) excited. Recently Tarantino has been in the limelight with his recent protest and to be honest he can say what he wants because it's his life and it doesn't deter me from seeing his new film. If I recall last year Bryan Singer was in the middle of a sex scandal and yet it had no effect on how good his newest film X-Men: Apocalypse was and how much it made at the box office, so if we still praise and watch a film of a man who was in a sex scandal where he hadn't even been convicted yet, why should it be any different for Tarantino because of comments he made concerning police officers. It shouldn't matter because a movie is a movie and there is no proven fact that it has a result on what a person doe in their personal lives. I understand if you don't want to see the film and that is perfectly fine with me, but as a film fan this is a film I want to see and plus Tarantino is one of my favorite directors of all-time.

On today’s Ellen, Sony Pictures debuted a new new Concussion trailer. Below you can take a new look at the upcoming football drama starring Will Smith. The film opens in theaters on Christmas Day. The film is based on the David vs. Goliath journey of Dr. Bennet Omalu, the forensic neuropathologist who made the first discovery of football-related brain trauma in a pro player and fought to bring awareness to the public. In his search for the truth behind the devastating malady, Omalu’s quest humanizes the price paid by professional athletes in impact sports but also by people who challenge the status quo as it exposes the political, cultural and corporate interests that fuel the business of sports. Concussion also stars Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Arliss Howard, Paul Reiser, David Morse and Albert Brooks. Both written and directed by Peter Landesman, the film is based in part on the GQ article “Game Brain,” written by Jeanne Marie Laskas. The producers include Ridley Scott, Giannina Facio, David Wolthoff, Larry Shuman and Elizabeth Cantillon with David Crockett and Michael Schaefer executive producing. Landesman’s production team includes director of photography Salvatore Totino, production designer David Crank, Academy Award-winning editor William Goldenberg, and costume designer Dayna Pink. The Christmas Day release will see Concussion opening opposite Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant, Warner Bros. Pictures’ stunt-heavy remake Point Break, Paramount Pictures’ Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg team-up Daddy’s Home, Quentin Tarantino’s Roadshow release of his latest, Hateful Eight, and David O. Russell’s Joy Mangano biopic Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence.

This was a really great trailer. From the moment I heard about this film I was immediately curious to see it because it is a dealing with an issue that I personally went through and that was several concussions while playing high school football. Will Smith looks fantastic and he could very easily nab an Oscar nomination. This is also going to be an interesting film and the release date is even better because it is going to be coming out while the NFL is in the home-stretch for the playoffs and it could be advertised during a few games which could mean some bad things for the league. Honestly this film looks terrific and I'm looking forward to watching it.
