My Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

So I recently watched The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

With the nation of Panem in a full-scale revolutionary war, Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence) confronts President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (played by Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (played by Sam Claflin), Cressida (played by Natalie Dormer) and Peeta (played by Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the District 13 unit as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. Although rebels - including fellow victors, Johanna (Played by Jena Malone), Haymitch (played by Woody Harrelson), and Beetee (played by Jeffrey Wright) - now control most of Panem, the Girl on Fire must still overcome one last challenge to win President Snow's "game" - to conquer the Capitol at the risk of losing her friends and loved ones. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in the Hunger Games as she realizes the stakes are no longer just for survival – they are for the future of Panem.

This movie was kinda disappointing. Just a reminder to everyone, this is coming form the perspective of a person who has not read any of the books (although I did read part of the first book). Now all of the Hunger Games have been really good, but only one has truly lived up to the expectations and that was Catching Fire. This film was meant to be an emotional, epic, violent and dramatic and you really don't get any of that. Anytime a character dies in the film you emotional punch you expect. Their is one death that was a tad bit emotional, but you expect from my the moment you see the character and that's another thing about the film is that it's really predictable. If you haven't read the book, then you can pretty much guess what is going to happen throughout the entire film. The performances are really solid and Jennifer Lawrence continues to prove why she is one of the best actresses in the business today. The supporting cast is really great as well although some characters were vastly underused and the presence could've helped the film out a little more. The visual effects in the film are the best of the franchise and that's saying a lot compared to Catching Fire. The film also dragged on for way too long and most of the scenes felt like filler and throughout you just want the film to get to the point. Overall this was a little disappointing end to the franchise, but there are enough redeeming qualities to make the film a somewhat satisfying end to the franchise. I give The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 an 8.5 out of 10.
