My Review of Spotlight

So I recently watched Spotlight and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado........

Spotlight tells the riveting true story of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe investigation that would rock the city and cause a crisis in one of the world's oldest and most trusted institutions. When the newspaper's tenacious "Spotlight" team of reporters delves into allegations of abuse in the Catholic Church, their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston's religious, legal, and government establishment, touching off a wave of revelations around the world.

This is just simply a brilliant film. It touches on a subject that has caused a lot of controversy and has made for quite a few vulgar jokes, but this is a subject that needed a film treatment. Thomas Mccarthy who has wrote some amazing scripts, takes over both the writing and directing duties of this film and he knocks it out the park. The cast in the film is simply amazing and they all deserve Oscar nominations. The two real standout performances from from Mark Ruffalo and Michael Keaton who I think will both get nominated for Best Supporting Actor at The Oscars and they both have a legitimate shot to win the awards and I'll give the slight edge to Ruffalo who gives a little bit more emotion than Keaton. The film really dives deep into a sick and disturbing subject that sometimes make you squirm in your seat as you sit in disbelief of how all of this went down without no one noticing. The film at sometimes feel like it could've been made as tv movie, but this subject needed a lot of unrestricted access to get the point across. It also at times feels like like it leans to far to one side and it doens't give the other side a chance to defend themselves. Overall this is a film that everyone needs to see and it is currently the frontrunner to win Best Picture at The Oscars next year. I give Spotlight a 9 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Spotlight, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
