So I recently watched The 33 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...........
The true story of the 2010 collapse of a Chilean mine and the rescue of the 33 miners who were trapped underground for 69 days.
This is a pretty inspirational film to watch. This was a story that took the world by storm and rightfully so because 33 men almost lost their lives in a horrible tragedy. The film does a great job of showing both the aspects of the miners and of their families and the massive news coverage and it was very balanced between all three. Antonio Banderas gives a really spectacular performance and an emotional one at that and this is easily the best of his career. We also get a great performance from Lou Diamond Phillips who played Luis "Don Lucho" Urzúa who was the leader of the group and it really helped bring this film to life. It's an inspirational film to the point of never giving up hope no matter how bad the situation might be. While the film has a great message and terrific performances, the film is pretty predictable. Now if you know the story going in, then of course it's predictable, but if you were not one of the ones following the story and had no idea about the film you could still easily pick out plot points to know the end of the film. The film can also be a little too melodramatic, but in this case it's almost necessary because of the situation the film is in. Overall this has everything you want in a true story, but that can be both good and bad. I give The 33 a 5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The 33, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
