1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 continues to hold onto the number one spot, but it had the smallest drop off from 1st week to 2nd week in the franchises history.
2. The Good Dinosaur opened with the second lowest ever for a Pixar film that released nationwide on it's opening weekend.
3. The other new release for the weekend, Victor Frankenstein did not even crack the top 10 while making barely over $2 million.
4. The biggest loser of the weekend was The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 as it made 49.3% less than it did last weekend and the biggest winner of the weekend was Brooklyn as it made 230.2% more than it did last week.
5. I went 3 for 5 on my predictions.

Predictions
1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 $30 Million
2. The Good Dinosaur $20 Million
3. Creed $17 Million
4. Krampus $12 Million
5. Spectre $9 Million

My Review of The Good Dinosaur

So I recently watched The Good Dinosaur and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

The Good Dinosaur poster.jpg

An epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo (voiced by Raymond Ochoa) makes an unlikely human friend named Spot (voiced by Jack Bright).

This was actually a pretty disappointing film to watch. This is a film that I personally thought could be better than Inside Out and that had to mean that the film was great and it just wasn't. The concept is an interesting one that the likes of Pixar would take on, but it just wasn't executed well. The plot is pretty predictable and one that's been done over and over again. The film does have a lot of emotional moments and those are the parts that are the most impactful throughout the entire film. The characters are fairly interesting, but just like the plot, it just isn't enough to make the film great. The film also felt a little boring and that's probably because the film is predictable. The animation is so beautiful and it may be the best that has ever been in a Pixar film and that's saying a lot considering all of the films that the studio has released. This was director Peter Sohn's first major film and with he'll get better, it just wasn't the right film for him at this current moment. if you were to rank the film out of the other Pixar films this wouldn't be in the group of perfect Pixar films, but it's not one of the worst Overall the film is relatively disappointing and i's predictable, but the animation and the voice talent are enough for the film to at least be seen in the theaters. I give The Good Dinosaur a 6 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Good Dinosaur, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

                                                                                                                           Jonah Sparks

My Review of Creed

So I recently watched Creed and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado..............

Creed poster.jpg

Adonis Johnson (played by Micheal B. Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa. Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (played by Sylvester Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo—the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring. With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title…but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?

This is an absolutely fantastic movie. This movie is what a boxing movie should be the fight. Director/Writer Ryan Coogler does a fantastic job of borrowing from the previous Rocky films, but making his own film within the story and he was the perfect choice for the film and this man deserves a massive blockbuster film because he is now a proven director. The performances are simply fantastic and they mainly come from Micheal B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone> Micheal B. Jordan continues to prove he is one of the best young actors working in the business today. As for Sylvester Stallone gives the best performance of his career and he could make a potential Oscar push and the category of Best Supporting Actor is fairly thin, but it may not be enough for Stallone to get that nomination. One thing that doesn't get mentioned much when reviewing a film is the cinematography and the only time it happens is when it's just too good not to talk about and that's the case with this film. The fight scenes were a thing of beauty and there is one boxing match that is one continuous shot and it made the film feel like a newer version of Raging Bull and the way the cinematography was done in that film. The film was the perfect way to introduce the Rocky franchise back into out conscious and with the financial and critical success if this film, we could be seeing the start of a brand new series within the Rocky franchise. The one knock against the film would be the predictability. It mirrors the first Rocky film in so many ways that you can predict just a lot of the film. Overall this is one of the best, if not the best boxing film of the millennium. I give Creed a 9.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Creed what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

11-25-15 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Captain America: Civil War stars Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live and brought with them the Captain America: Civil War trailer which you can watch below. Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain. Joining Evans and Downey Jr. in the film are Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier alongside Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man. The film will also debut Marvel’s new Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War will be released on May 6, 2016.

This was an awesome trailer. I've been waiting for this trailer for a long time and to finally get it during the week of Thanksgiving is such a great thing. We a lot of different emotions from the trailer such as subtle comedy, excitement a bit sadness. The Russo Brothers look like they have done another fantastic job with a Captain America film. I also like how the film isn't really following along with the comic book storyline because now I don't know what to expect. The last scene of trailer is how all fight scenes should be filmed with a wide shot and unlike some with shaky came  going all over the place and not knowing what in the world is going on. I'm more excited for this film and i don't know if it will top Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice as my most anticipated film of next year, but it will come close.

Speaking with the BBC’s Newsbeat (via /Film), Men in Black producer Laurie MacDonald revealed that the upcoming revival of the series will feature “a prominent woman in black in the fourth [film].” The pair preciously indicated that franchise star Will Smith would be sitting out this this time, but MacDonald’s producing partner and husband Walter Parkes went on to say “Never count Will out.” Parkes clarified that plans for the fourth film were still in early days, saying: “We sort of looked at the first three in retrospect as a bit of a trilogy. We tried to tell a story about those two characters and that relationship, It sounds silly because it’s a fun, science fiction comedy but when you work on these things you sort of try to find some thematic basis underneath it. Now we are looking at a reinvention, but it’s a wonderful world to get back into.” It remains to be seen if plans are still being made by Sony Pictures for the previously-reported franchise mash up of 21 Jump Street and the Men in Black franchise for a sci-fi comedy mocking “cinematic universes,” but given the busy schedule of filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the project could have been neuralyzed. Starring Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, the first Men in Black was released in 1997 and went on to gross over $589 million worldwide. A follow-up was released in 2002, bringing in over $440 million worldwide, with a third debuting in theaters in 2012 and raking in over $620 million. Smith and Jones appeared in all three films, which were in turn all directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. The film series was originally based on the comics by Lowell Cunningham.

I really like this idea a lot. As the article said the filmmakers feel as if the first three were a trilogy focusing on a specific relationship and now it's time for a woman to take over the reigns of the leading role. As for Will Smith I don't see how he can turn down an opportunity to do another Men in Black film because it is a staple franchise for him, but I can see why he would turn it down so that he can have an opportunity to do a film like Concussion. I'm anxious to see how the film turns out because the previous two entries in the franchise weren't the greatest films in the world and maybe this film can help the franchise become good again.

It’s not entirely a surprise, given that he’s been working with director Brad Bird on every single film Bird has helmed since the first The Incredibles in 2004, but today it’s official: Michael Giacchino will return to score The Incredibles 2.  “I don’t think I could have made this movie right away,” Bird told ComingSoon.net earlier this year when asked if the past ten years had changed his point of view on the characters at all. “Nor would I want to. I always want to break things up with something else. I know some directors who have done a movie and then, the very next thing they do is the sequel to that movie. Unless it’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ and it was always conceived of us doing it that way, I will always want to break it up with something else and then come back to it. That said, I’m really looking forward to playing with this playset again.” While Bird is staying mum for the time being on specifics regarding the Incredibles 2 story, he did hint that some of the elements in the script are connected to ideas that didn’t make it into the original film. “I had a bunch of ideas that I wanted to put in ‘The Incredibles,'” he said, “but they just didn’t fit. Certain ideas fit, but other things make you go, ‘This is great, but I’d have to give up two other things that matter more to me to get this other thing in.’ So there were a pile of ideas left over from ‘The Incredibles,’ but it’s not a big thing. There were little scenes and things that I was interested in. I wanted to come up with sort of an over-arching idea that connected to the first film that went somewhere different. That’s the one that took a little more time.” Look for The Incredibles 2 to hit theaters June 21, 2019.

This is fantastic news to hear. As I mentioned last week with Giacchino being announced to score Zootopia, this is going to be the beginning of a fantastic working relationship with Disney. Now granted he has done a lot of films in the past (including the aforementioned The Incredibles back in 2004), but by that I meant you pretty much expect his upcoming filmography to be filled with a lot of Disney films. I enjoyed the score he did on The Incredibles and I'm excited to see how he builds upon that for the sequel.

Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence may be one of Hollywood’s top actresses, with dramatic ability seen in films like this winter’s Joy as well as action chops showcased in franchise roles for The Hunger Games and X-Men. Apparently that’s not enough for Lawrence, however, who has told Entertainment Weekly about her intentions to join the ranks of Ben Affleck, Angelina Jolie and other actors who also call the shots on set, which she will do for a dark comedy based on actual events titled Project Delirium. “I’d also like to direct a comedy,” she says. “I have wanted to direct as long as I’ve wanted to act. I just don’t talk about it because I’d rather just do it. I’ve signed on to direct something called ‘Project Delirium’ — it’s based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong. It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that. If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.” The 2012 New Yorker article she’s referring to, titled Operation Delirium by Raffi Khatchadourian, focuses on the chemical warfare experiments conducted by Colonel James S. Ketchum at the Edgewood military facility in Maryland from 1960 to 1969 in which he tested over 5000 volunteer U.S. soldiers with dangerous “incapacitating agents” including LSD, BZ and marijuana. The goal was to try to figure out a means to neutralize an enemy without killing them, although most of the Edgewood test subjects were not checked in on in the ensuing years for lasting mental damage caused by the experiments. Lawrence is currently filming the sci-fi romance Passengers with Chris Pratt, and will reprise her role as Mystique in next summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse. She can be seen right now in theaters in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

I really like this news. Jennifer Lawrence is an amazing actress and can easily be considered the best actress working in the business today. I like that she is wanting to take a step in the directing direction, but it's not an easy road to follow. It's easier for directors to become actors than vice versa. I like that the film is going to be a smaller film because if it were a bigger film then I would be really worried about this idea. Hopefully this film can be a hit and we can possibly see more of Jennifer Lawrence behind the camera.

Lionsgate has released a new Norm of the North trailer, which you can watch below. The animated feature opens in theaters on January 15, 2016. Directed by Trevor Wall from a script by Jack Donaldson and Derek Elliott, Norm of the North features the voices of Rob Schneider, Heather Graham, Ken Jeong, Gabriel Iglesias, Loretta Devine, Michael McElhatton, Colm Meaney and Bill Nighy. The film is a Splash Entertainment production, A polar bear of many words, Norm’s greatest gripe is simple: there is no room for tourists in the Arctic. But when a maniacal developer threatens to build luxury condos in his own backyard, Norm does what all normal polar bears would do…he heads to New York City to stop it. With a cast of ragtag lemmings at his side, Norm takes on the big apple, big business and a big identity crisis to save the day. Nicolas Atlan, Ken Katsumoto, Mike Young, Liz Young and Steve Rosen produced the film.

This was such a stupid trailer. What's really funny about this is that in the game South Park: The Stick of Truth, they actually make fun of Rob Schneider being a polar bear and for good reason because he is a terrible actor and will literally do anything for a paycheck. This trailer wasn't funny at all and honestly is'ts going to be a complete box office bomb and plus it's coming out in January so it's destined to be terrible.

11-24-15 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Tom Cruise is gearing up to take on The Mummy. Variety has the news, reporting that the three-time Academy Award nominee is the first cast member to board director Alex Kurtzman’s contemporary take on the classic monster. The plan is for this new Mummy film to lead into Universal Pictures’ planned “shared universe” of monster movies. The Mummy offers a modern take on the legend that has endured since the dawn of man. Alex Kurtzman is set to direct the film from a script by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus). The Mummy reboot is set for release on March 24, 2017 with another Untitled Universal Monster Movie set to follow it on March 30, 2018. Although Tom Cruise’s Mummy role has not yet been revealed, it’s worth nothing that the star was previously eyeing the Universal Monsters cinematic universe with plans to headline a Van Helsing feature. It wasn’t long ago that word broke that The Mummy might feature a female version of the title monster. According to recent reports, the film is currently casting for the possibilities of both male and female versions. The Mummy was made famous on the big screen by Boris Karloff in Karl Freund’s 1932 feature. Subsequent sequels to the original The Mummy saw Tom Tyler (who played Captain Marvel/Shazam in the original 1941 serials) and later Lon Chaney Jr. playing a different mummy than the one Karloff played. Stephen Sommers’ more recent The Mummy and The Mummy Returns films set Arnold Vosloo in the title role. Jet Li then played he villain in Rob Cohen’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Tom Cruise starred earlier this year in Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation. He’s planning to reprise his Ethan Hunt role for another sequel and is set to return as Jack Reacher in next year’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back. Edward Zwick is taking the director’s chair for the sequel, which is targeted to hit the big screen October 21, 2016.

This fantastic news to hear. Tom Cruise in the past five years has established himself as an actor willing to risk it all in films and this is a perfect role for him and the film. This type of film and the universe needs a big star to help give it credibility and help it get it off the ground. Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr and Brendan Fraser are all talented actors, but none of them had or have the star power Tom Cruise does. I'm now really excited to see the film and I'm looking forward to who else joins the cast of this film and other films in the universe.

Despite set photos popping up online a few weeks ago, Marvel Studios has now announced that production has officially begun on the upcoming Doctor Strange and confirmed the film’s cast. Production on the film is currently set up in London with additional plans to shoot in New York and Hong Kong. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the title hero in the film and is joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Rachel McAdams, and Michael Stuhlbarg, with Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One. Other cast members previously reported to be in the film include Scott Adkins and Amy Landecker. Scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016, Doctor Strange is scripted by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Passengers) and directed by Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us From Evil). Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. Marvel’s Doctor Strange is produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Charles Newirth, Stephen Broussard and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Director Scott Derrickson’s creative team also includes director of photography Ben Davis, B.S.C. (Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy); production designer Charles Wood (Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy); costume designer Alexandra Byrne (Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy); editors Wyatt Smith (Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World) and Sabrina Plisco, ACE; and visuals effects supervisor Stephane Ceretti (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy).

This fantastic news to hear. Now as the story states, we've seen set photos be leaked to show that work is already being done on the film, but I like that Marvel just came and said that shooting has officially begun. I also like that they've confirmed the cast which the photos kinda did that, but we officially know who is in the film. I'm glad to see that the film is in production but they've got hustle a little bit because the film comes out in less than a year and I know some detailed special effects have to go into this film and I'm curious to see how close they'll cut it to get this film out.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to enter its “Phase Three” with the May 6, 2016 release of Captain America: Civil War, things have been going a bit slower over at the Distinguished Competition. When the much-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters March 25, there will have been nearly three years between it and its direct predecessor, Man of Steel. In a new story over at Variety, however, leading man Ben Affleck promises that the big screen DC Universe will be worth waiting for. “They are now developing… probably the single greatest under-exploited IP asset in the entertainment business, the DC comic world,” Affleck tells the outlet, “and now they have started to exploit that and you are going to see that blossom. And, when it does, it’s going to be massive.” Affleck is one of the key players when it comes to the future of the big screen DC Universe. Not only will he play the Dark Knight himself in next year’s superhero showdown, the two-time Academy Award winner is all but confirmed to reprise the role in both the two-part Justice League and in a solo Batman film that Affleck is likely to direct and co-write with Geoff Johns. In his discussion with the trade, however, Affleck is quick to point out that much of the credit for the studio’s DC Universe plans lie with Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara. “I was really impressed by that and by the intelligence of his notes,” says Affleck, “and the fact that he cared… He was willing to take longer to make the movie to get it right to make it a movie of higher quality.” The current lineup for the big screen DC Universe has David Ayer’s Suicide Squad following Batman v Superman on August 5, 2016. Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman will then arrive June 23, 2017, followed by Justice League: Part One on November 10, 2017. 2018 will bring The Flash on March 23 and Aquaman on July 27. 2019 has both Shazam tentatively set for April 5, 2019 and Justice League: Part Two for June 14. 2020’s DC Universe additions include Cyborg on April 3 and Green Lantern Corps on June 19.

I absolutely love these comments. First off I just want to say that Ben Affleck is the ultimate salesman and I'm really confident in Warner Bros. and DC to do things right. I also like the fact he is saying that the universe is going to be massive because there are a lot of very interesting characters in the DC universe and there are a lot of different and varying rumors going around about what characters will be in the cinematic universe and I'm curious as to who DC will use in their films. I just want to say that anytime someone from DC or Warner Bros. talks about this movie I just think to myself that this film should've already come out (original release date of July 17th, 2015) and I just know that the waiting will be a great payoff.

Despite writer/producer Simon Kinberg expressing a desire to make more movies with the cast, 20th Century Fox has pulled the Fantastic Four sequel from their release calendar. The film was scheduled to debut in theaters on June 2, 2017, one week after Star Wars: Episode VIII. Loosely based on Marvel’s “Ultimate Fantastic Four” comic series, the film was mired in controversy from the start, including a controversial tweet from director Josh Trank sent the day the film opened, lamenting the quality of the final cut. Fantastic Four stars Miles Teller as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara as Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (The Thing), Toby Kebbell as Victor Von Doom, Reg E. Cathey (“The Wire”) as Dr. Franklin Storm, and Tim Blake Nelson. The film went on to gross just $56 million at the domestic box office with a global total of $167 million. It reportedly cost about $120 million to make.

I'm not surprised by the news whatsoever. Look let's be real the new film was dreadful and terrible and it showed that by the disappointing numbers at the box office. While it's not a shocking move I understand why it was done. Number 1 it was supposed to come out a week after Star Wars Episode VIII and that film is going to be such a big juggernaut that anything that comes out the week after is going to get destroyed. Number 2, Fox needs to sit down and figure out what they are going to do with the property and they have until 2020 to begin production on another film or else Marvel gets the rights back. Fox can do that, they can just go ahead and work out a deal with Marvel or they can figure out a long term plan to get this franchise going in a positive way.  I hope the third one comes true because I feel that if they go back to Marvel then they'll get lost in the shuffle and we won't see them for a long time.

New Line Cinema has revealed the trailer for the third chapter in the Barbershop trilogy, titled Barbershop: The Next Cut! Ice Cube leads a cast that includes Nicki Minaj, Common, Cedric the Entertainer, and many more, with Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man, The Best Man Holiday) in the director’s chair. You can check out the Barbershop: The Next Cut trailer below. It’s been more than 10 years since our last appointment at Calvin’s Barbershop. Calvin (Ice Cube) and his longtime crew, including Eddie (Cedric the Entertainer), are still there, but the shop has undergone some major changes. Most noticeably, our once male-dominated sanctuary is now co-ed. The ladies bring their own flavor, drama and gossip to the shop challenging the fellas at every turn. Despite the good times and camaraderie within the shop, the surrounding community has taken a turn for the worse, forcing Calvin and our crew to come together to not only save the shop, but their neighborhood. Barbershop: The Next Cut also stars Regina Hall, Sean Patrick Thomas, Eve, Anthony Anderson, Jaszmine Lewis, and JB Smoove. Ride Along helmer Tim Story directed the original 2002 comedy with Cube starring as Calvin Palmer, Jr., a man who inherited a South Side Chicago barbershop from his father. He spends his normal days working in the s hop, interacting with co-workers and the surrounding community. Cube and Cedric the Entertainer starred in both the original film and the 2004 sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business, directed by Kevin Rodney Sullivan. That film also featured a “guest appearance” by Queen Latifah, who then headlined the Barbershop franchise spinoff, Beauty Shop, in 2005. Cube is producing Barbershop: The Next Cut alongside Matt Alvarez, Bob Teitel and George Tillman Jr. The film hits theaters April 15, 2016.

This was a nice little trailer. Now I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a big fan of the Barbershop franchise, but they have had quite a few good laughs in them. This trailer didn't make me want to see the film more than I wanted to, but I'll check it out for the laughs. I will say that Nicki Minaj was not funny at all and she may be the worst part of the film and I don't know if I care seeing her or hearing her in this film.
