Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

Following its debut on the College Football Playoff National Championship on ESPN, Marvel Studios has now brought online the new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, which you can watch below.Avengers: Age of Ultron is the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill and Stellan Skarsgård as Erik Selvig, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Patricia Whitcher, Stan Lee and Jon Favreau serve as executive producers. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters on May 1, 2015.
This is an amazing trailer. The trailer shows some new footage that we haven't seen and it was really great. It also makes the film seem a lot more darker than I thought it would be and it is happening up to possibly be one of the best films of the year. I've been excited about this film and after seeing this trailer I'm even more excited.
With all the talk of Ant-Man this week, it’s easy to forget that even more Marvel Studios projects are on the horizon, and the next one at bat after the microscopic hero is Captain America: Civil War. It’s been reported for some time that production on the third film would set up shop in Atlanta, but when? And where else will they be going? “We start shooting in April,” Anthony Mackie tells B96 Chicago (via CBM). “So, it’s gonna be a lot of flying and fighting for about five months… and I’m not mad at all.” When asked (by none other than Kevin Costner) about specific shooting locations, Mackie replied: “Puerto Rico, Berlin, and Atlanta.“ Mackie is just one of an ever-growing cast for the upcoming film, which also includes Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Chadwick Boseman in his MCU debut as Black Panther, Daniel Bruhl in a mystery role, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, and potentially Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. Written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Captain America: Civil War will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and is set for release on May 6, 2016.
These are some pretty cool locations. Look you can go anywhere and get footage for a film, but it's nice to see these locations being used. It also helps when you get tax breaks for filming outside of the United States. I'm really excited for this film and when you hear these comments it really puts it into perspective that this film is coming out next May.
As has been long-rumored, Melissa McCarthy has entered talks to re-team with Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig for his upcoming female-driven Ghostbusters reboot. The Hollywood Reporter has the news, although their article makes it clear that McCarthy’s involvement is far from a done deal due to her upcoming commitments to both “Mike & Molly” and the Universal Pictures comedy Michelle Darnell. If all goes according to plan, however, Ghostbusters will begin shooting this June. A remake of director Ivan Reitman’s 1984 comedy classic, Feig’s take on the property is said to be targeting a scarier tone that will not maintain any continuity with the original film or its 1989 sequel (or the surprisingly continuity-heavy animated series “The Real Ghostbusters,” for that matter). Back in September, original Ghostbusters star Bill Murray revealed his own “fan cast” for a female-driven franchise reboot, which included McCarthy (his St. Vincent co-star) in addition to Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Linda Cardinelli (“Freaks and Geeks,” “Mad Men”) and Emma Stone (The Help, The Amazing Spider-Man). Since then, Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson has revealed that she has met for a part, although today’s update suggest that Wilson is no longer in contention for a role. McCarthy, who also recently headlined Tammy, is set to appear in Feig’s next, Spy, opposite Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Jude Law, Nia Long, Bobby Cannavale, Morena Baccarin, Allison Janney, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Miranda Hart. The 20th Century Fox comedy hits theaters May 22.
This isn't a shock. Melissa McCarthy is one of funniest women working in the business today and I think she is perfect for the film. It also makes sense foe her to be in the film becasue she has worked with director Paul Feig in Bridesmaids (a film in which she was nominated for an Oscar) and The Heat which was pretty funny as well. Like I said this is a no-brainer and I hope that she joins the film.
Gary Whitta, the screenwriter behind The Book of Eli and After Earth, has finished his work on the standalone Star Wars film. The Hollywood Reporter has the news, bringing word that Gareth Edwards remains attached to direct the December 16, 2016 release. “Gary has been a wonderful, inspired contributor and I enjoyed working with him tremendously,” Edwards tells the outlet. “I’m so grateful for all of his contributions. “ “The year I spent working with Lucasfilm on this Star Wars film has been by far the most rewarding period of my entire career,” adds Whitta. “As a lifelong Star Wars fan I’m deeply grateful to have had the rare opportunity to contribute to a new chapter in its ongoing cinematic legacy. The film is going to be amazing.” Rumored to be a heist film involving the theft of the Death Star plans, the film should announce a new writer shortly.
I really hate to hear this news. Now granted this happens a lot in Hollywood, but when someone has been working on the script for a year I kinda feel bad for him. Parts of his script will still be used and there is no cause for concern when it comes to the film. Now this gives Whitta a chance to go work on another script and I can't wait to see what his next project is.
Although ComingSoon.net managed to photograph a very early teaser poster at last year’s Licensing Expo, updates on Paramount Pictures’ G.I. Joe 3 have been few and far between. That appears to be changing, however, as Deadline reports that the studio is looking at D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye, Disturbia) to potentially direct. The live-action G.I. Joe film franchise was launched in 2009 with G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, starring Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Dennis Quaid and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Tatum returned (albeit briefly) alongside Lee and Park for the sequel, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, released in early 2013. The followup also stars Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Stevenson and Jonathan Pryce. Collectively, the pair of films have grossed more than $675 at the worldwide box office. Caruso, also well-known for directing DreamWorks Pictures’ I Am Number Four, is currently working on The Disappointments Room for Relativity Media. Starring Kate Beckinsale and Mel Raido and featuring a screenplay by actor turned Stoker scribe Wentworth Miller, The Disappointments Room hits the big screen September 25. As revealed last summer, G.I. Joe 3 is being scripted by Jonathan Lemkin (Lethal Weapon 4, Shooter). It is believed that the plot will focus heavily on Johnson’s character, Roadblock.
I'm not to excited about this name. He's directed only one decent film (Disturbia) and the rest of his filmography isn't that impressive (Eagle Eye, I Am Number Four). Another thing that bothers me about him is that he has worked with Shia LeBeouf a few times and he could possibly bring him onto the film and I honestly don't want that. This franchise needs a boost of energy for it be respectable and entertaining for the fans of G.I. Joe.
