Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

One of the major uncertain factors for Warner Bros.' upcoming Batman vs. Superman, nearly from the start, has been whether composer Hans Zimmer will return to provide the score for the film. Zimmer previously mentioned that he was leaning towards not doing it, as he didn't want to retread any of the territory he may have gone into when he scored Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy.
Now, speaking with Digital Spy, Zimmer has confirmed that he will in fact return to score the highly-anticipated Man of Steel follow-up after finishing work on Christopher Nolan's Interstellar "We've already had a couple of chats," Zimmer said. "And once I finish the movie that I shall not talk about I will probably head over to where Zack is shooting his movie and just hang out a bit and see if we can come up with any ideas." Batman vs. Superman is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
I for one am tickled to death at thought of Hans Zimmer coming back and scoring the score for Batman vs. Superman. Zimmer is the best composer actively working today and I'm excited to see what he has in store for us if he decides to score the film (I think he will).
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are set to re-team with their Step Brothers and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby helmer Adam McKay for a new comedy, Border Guards, Deadline reports. Jesse Armstrong ("Peep Show") is supplying the screenplay for the Sony Pictures comedy, which follows Ferrell and Reilly as two friends who decided that it's in America's best interest that they go to work patrolling the US Mexico border. They wind up getting trapped in Mexico, however, and have to sneak their way back to the states.
I absolutely love this idea. Teaming togehter such a great comedic duo once again as well as supplying the gut who directed both Anchorman films and who directed one of the Ferrell and Riley team-ups Talladega Nights: The ballad of Ricky Bobby. This news just excites me and I can't wait to see the film.
Production resumed late last month on Universal Pictures' Fast & Furious 7 following the tragic death of leading man Paul Walker in November. Today, the production has issued the following official statement that confirms the rumors that Walker's brothers, Caleb and Cody, are assisting in finishing the James Wan film:
A Note to the Fans of FAST & FURIOUS
The FAST & FURIOUS saga is about family. The characters are connected by the bond of family, and it is how all of us who have worked together for more than thirteen years feel about each other. It certainly defines how we feel about our fans. Our family experienced an unthinkable shock in November. We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we love and lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film. We came together and all felt the only choice was to continue. We believe our fans want that, and we believe Paul would want that too. Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for FAST & FURIOUS 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career. We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our FAST family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too. We are just under a year away from the release of FAST & FURIOUS 7, and this film is the most important we've ever done together. It will allow the character of Brian O’Conner to live on and let us celebrate Paul in his most defining role. We wanted to take a moment to speak to our fans directly and thank you for the love and support you always show us as we resume our work.
I really loved this statement for Universal and my heart still goes out to Paul Walker's family. Anyways this statement kinda confirms the rumors that we had heard back in December and January about the use of Paul Walker's brothers. I firmly believe that they will stand in for their brother and the filmmakers will put a cgi face over both of them and they both will probably do a lot of the stunt work for their brother as well.
Leonardo DiCaprio will star in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's film The Revenant for New Regency, it was announced today by Brad Weston, president and chief executive officer. The film, written by Mark L. Smith and Inarritu, is scheduled to start production this September with a fall 2015 release planned through New Regency's distribution deal with 20th Century Fox. Anonymous Content's Steve Golin, Keith Redmon and David Kanter will produce the film along with Inarritu, Arnon Milchan and James Skotchdopole. Executive producer is Paul Green. RatPac and Worldview Entertainment will co-finance the film.
DiCaprio, recently nominated for his fifth Academy Award, will follow up his heralded performance in the enormously successful The Wolf of Wall Street with the role of Hugh Glass in The Revenant. Glass is a 19th century fur trapper who is mauled by a grizzly bear, left for dead and then robbed. When he survives against all odds, he sets out on a treacherous journey to exact revenge on his betrayers in this captivating and inspiring story based on the Michael Punke novel, "The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge."
I'm really intrigued by this idea. I love that Leo is stepping out and doing a role we've never seen him do and I like that he is working with a relatively unknown director. This is also sounds like another film in which DiCaprio could compete foe the illustrious Oscar that everyone wants to see him win (myself included) and I'm really excited to see what Leo does with the role.
Back in September of last year, Channing Tatum made a bit of a splash when he admitted to wanting to play the X-Men character Gambit, and now it seems that might actually be happening. Speaking with MTV (via /Film), Tatum confirmed that he has met with "X-Men" producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who has been involved in the casting for every single "X-Men" film.
"I met with Lauren Shuler Donner. And I would love it. Gambit is really the only X-Man I’ve ever loved. I mean I’ve loved them all, they’re all great, but I guess from being down south – my dad’s from Louisiana, I’m from Mississippi, Alabama, Florida – I don’t know. I just related to him. He’s just kind of suave… He’s the most un X-Men X-Man that’s ever been in X-Men. Other than maybe Wolverine, who’s like the anti-hero. He’s a thief. He’s not even a hero. He’s kind of walking the line of grey…He loves women and drinking and smoking and stuff so he’s just a cool guy who happens to have a moral center….I hope it [comes together]. You never know it’s a weird industry. If the stars align, I would die to play it. I’m already working on the accent. It’s crappy at the moment."
Director Bryan Singer recently acknowledged that we might be seeing Gambit in the X-Men: Apocalypse, which is currently planned for a May 27, 2016 release.
I really hope that this doesn't happen. Look I have nothing against Channing Tatum, he is one of the best actors working in Hollywood today. But I just don't see or want him as Gambit. I would have no problem in bringing back Taylor Kitsch who played Gambit in the god-awful X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but I really enjoyed his performance eventhough the movie is worse than the poop I took earlier (TMI?). If this does happen though I will give Channing Tatum the benefit of the doubt and give him a chance.
