My Review of The Foreigner

So I recently watched The Foreigner and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

The Foreigner (2017 film).jpg

Quan (played by Jackie Chan) is a humble London businessman whose long-buried past erupts in a revenge-fueled vendetta when the only person left for him to love -- his teenage daughter -- dies in a senseless act of politically motivated terrorism. His relentless search to find the terrorists leads to a cat-and-mouse conflict with a British government official (played by Pierce Brosnan) whose own past may hold the clues to the identities of the elusive killers.

This might be one of the more disappointing films of the year. One of the reasons why the film was hyped up was because it was the return of Jackie Chan to the big screen and he himself makes a phenomenal return with one of the better performances of his career while being able to show off his known action skills as well as some great dramatic elements as well. Besides Chan, Pierce Brosnan gives a great supporting performance as well and when the both share scenes you can feel the tension between the two. As mentioned before, Chan has a lot of great action scenes and the action scenes are so perfect and just so crisp that you're into every moment and are even in awe of what they were able to accomplish, While great performances and great action scenes are great, the film has a basic revenge plot that we've seen over and over again. It's a muddled idea and it just doesn't come off as something that you will remember down the line. The plot of the film is not so different than a lot of other revenge films and this film doesn't bring anything unique to the film to help it stand out from the rest. Overall this film sees the return of one of the greatest action stars of all-time giving a once in a lifetime performance that he'll be remembered for, but the film won't be as it follows the same formulaic plot of films that equally similar to it without adding anything new. I give The Foreigner a 4 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Foreigner and, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
