My Review of Rings

So I recently watched Rings and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.............

Rings - Official Theatrical Poster.png

A young woman (played by Matilda Lutz) becomes worried about her boyfriend (played by Alex Roe) when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it. She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a "movie within the movie" that no one has ever seen before...

This might be one of the worst horror films ever made. The first film came out in 2002 and it started a cultural phenomenon and from then on the sequel that came out in 2005 was ok, but not great and this film will make you want to stick a toothpick under your toenail and kick a wall (yes this film is that painful to watch). 2016 was a marvelous year for horror films that got people thinking that new and original ideas were coming out to help make the genre fresh again and so far 2017 has capitalized on that and this film continues the downward trend that we are already on just 6 weeks into the year. The film is filled with so many horror cliches and at times there are some pretty laughable moments due to them being just absolutely stupid and making no sense whatsoever. The first scene of the film is the most ridiculous thing ever to be put on the big screen and it just really takes you out of the film before it can even really get started. Director Francisco Javier Gutiérrez decided to make this film rather then stay apart of the remake of The Crow which has been trying to get made for 9 years now and honestly he should've stayed with that film rather than direct this pile of garbage and to be honest he was fighting an uphill battle to begin with as Akiva Goldsman was one of the writers on the film and he's had a decent career, but most of his films have been dreadful and this is another one of those dreadful films. One bright spot for the film are the performances and all of the actors do really well, but the film doesn't help them in anyway, but it at least shows someone was trying in this film. Overall this is just a terrible and dreadful film that didn't need to be made and honestly made a mockery of the entire lore that was built in previous films within the franchise. I give Rings a 0.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Rings, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
