My of Review Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

So I recently watched Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Investigator Jack Reacher (played by Tom Cruise) springs into action after the arrest of Susan Turner (played by Cobie Smulders), an Army major accused of treason. Suspecting foul play, Jack embarks on a mission to prove that the head of his old unit is innocent. After crossing paths with the law, Reacher must now go on the lam to uncover the truth behind a major government conspiracy that involves the death of U.S. soldiers.

Compared to the first film this is a complete and utter disappointment. One of the main problems with the first film was that it felt like a recycled plot that we have seen over and over again and once more this film has the same problems. The plot is almost verbatim as the first film and it's just not something you can sink your teeth into because you already know all of the troupes and little minor things that make things like this special and therefore the film is no longer special. Tom Cruise is one of the few bright spots for the film as he just knows how to command the screen when he's in these types of roles and he's able to do the things he normally does. Once again the action in the phenomenal and it even comes close to surpassing the great action scenes from the first film. This is a franchise that could be something spectacular but this film fails to build on anything that the first film established and it just feels like this franchise needs something to take it to the next level. One thing this film desperately missed was Christopher McQuarrie as he gave up the director and writer's chair and it might be a prime opportunity for him to slide back into the franchise if the studio moves forward with a third film. Overall this film is rehash of the first film and nothing is special about, but it is neat to continue to see Tom Cruise put his body on the line for a franchise to help fully commit to the role. I give Jack Reacher: Never Go Back a 3 out of 10.
