1. Finding Dory once again took the number spot despite having some very stiff competition.
2. Despite overwhelmingly positive reviews, The BFG didn't even make $20 million on it's opening weekend and it's on pace to lose the studio a lot of money considering it only made a little over $4 million in other territories and it had a $140 million production budget with probably about a $35 million marketing budget which means the mean needs to make a little over $400 million to break even.
3. Independence Day: Resurgence dropped like a rock as it dropped over 30% more than Independence Day did in it's second weekend back in 1996.
4. The biggest loser of the weekend was Independence Day: Resurgence which made 59.3% less than it did last weekend and there was no biggest winner of the weekend.
5. I went 2 for 5 on my predictions.
Predictions
1. The Secret Life of Pets $45 Million
2. Finding Dory $22 Million
1. The Secret Life of Pets $45 Million
2. Finding Dory $22 Million
3. The Legend of Tarzan $20 Million
4. The Purge: Election Year $14 Million
4. The Purge: Election Year $14 Million
5. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates $12 Million
So ladies and gentlemen what do you think of this weekend's box office totals and what are some of your takeaways? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
