So I recently watched Lights Out and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado......
When Rebecca (played by Teresa Palmer) left home, she thought that her childhood fears were behind her. As a young girl growing up, she was never really sure of what was real when the lights went out at night. Now, her little brother Martin (played by Gabriel Bateman) is experiencing the same unexplained and terrifying events that jeopardized her safety and sanity. Holding a mysterious attachment to their mother (played by Maria Bello), a supernatural entity has returned with a vengeance to torment the entire family.
This film is insanely scary. The film is of course based off of a 2013 short film that has made its way around the internet and it has become a massive hit that might be one of the most terrifying things one has ever seen. The same basic concept used in that short film is used for this film and for the filmmakers to make a 3 minute short film into a full-length feature film is a remarkable achievement that boasts well for the film. The performances are really great and that's a big compliment for a horror film considering that most performances are just mailed in and look fake throughout the film. What also makes the film very unique is that fact that all of the characters in the film make smart decisions when it comes to saving their own lives and it just makes you cheer for the characters. The scares are pretty intense and while some are expected, you are on the edge of your seat the entire just waiting to see what happens next. Overall this film is a revolutionary horror film and it should set an example for the rest of the genre to how a horror film should be made. I give Lights Out a 9.5 out of 10.
