So I recently watched The Secret Life of Pets and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Max (voiced by Louis C.K.) is a spoiled terrier who enjoys a comfortable life in a New York building until his owner adopts Duke (voiced by Eric Stonestreet), a giant and unruly canine. During their walk outside, they encounter a group of ferocious alley cats and wind up in a truck that's bound for the pound. Luckily, a rebellious bunny named Snowball (voiced by Kevin Hart) swoops in to save the doggy duo from captivity. In exchange, Snowball demands that Max and Duke join his gang of abandoned pets on a mission against the humans who've done them wrong.
This was a really fun and charming film. First off the film has a bland story that we've seen over and over again and it virtually copies the entire plot of Toy Story. While saying that however the film does have a lot of touching moments and some pretty emotional ones as well and it's mainly due to the fact that you have pets as your main characters and who doesn't love pets. The voice cast is terrific and they all work well together and for their respective characters. The film has a lot of great laughs and those laughs can be somewhat relatable especially if you have pets because sometimes pets can do some weird and funny things. The animation is gorgeous and you expect nothing less from a studio like Illumination The film hits on quite a few really heavy themes that work to an extent, but might bring to harsh of a reality to some younger kids who don't quite get the full understanding. Overall it's an enjoyable film that both kids and adults will love mainly due to the heartwarming nature of the film and it will force you to really be suspect of your pets and what they do while you're gone. I give The Secret Life of Pets a 7 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Secret Life of Pets, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review. Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
