My Review of Daddy's Home

So I recently watched Daddy's Home and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Brad Taggart (played by Will Ferrell) is a kindhearted radio executive who wants to be the best possible stepfather to his wife's (played by Linda Cardellini) two children. When her freewheeling ex-husband Dusty (played by Mark Wahlberg) breezes back into town, Brad's feeling of insecurity quickly develops into an inferiority complex. As Dusty demonstrates his flair for athletics, home repair and bad-boy charisma, Taggart finds himself in a no-holds-barred battle to one-up his rival and win the approval of his family.

This was a decent film. Will Ferrell is one of the funniest actors in the business and Mark Wahlberg has recently shown that he can do comedy as well and the last time they were on screen together they were both in The Other Guys and they had some great chemistry in that film and they do in this film as well. The both feed off of each other well and their timing is just perfect. However unlike The Other Guys, this film's story just doesn't work at all. The story which is just absolutely horrendous. It has a predictable plot and the character development just isn't there eventhough you have great actors like Ferrell and Wahlberg. One of the reasons why the story just doesn't work is due to director/co-writer Sean Anders. Now while Anders has wrote some tremendous films in the past (i.e. We're the Millers and Hot Tub Time Machine) he hasn't had the best track record as of late with directing and writing such projects as That's My Boy, Dumb and Dumber To, Horrible Bosses 2 and Mr. Popper's Penguins and you can chalk up this one to his list of bad films. The film often feels like it wants to be an R-rated comedy, but ti just doesn't or possibly wasn't allowed to push the boundaries and it just becomes a bad PG-13 comedy. Overall this film has two great comedic performances from Ferrell and Wahlberg, but the directing and writing are just flat and it makes the story boring. I give Daddy's Home a 5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Daddy's Home, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
