Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first Suicide Squad trailer, following its debut on the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special on The CW. You can check out the Suicide Squad trailer below. Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness, Focus) as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop, Easy Money) as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney (Divergent, The Water Diviner) as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina, Pan) as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El DIablo, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Jared Leto as The Joker. There’s also mystery roles for Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Raymond Olubowale, Alex Meraz, Jim Parrack, and Common. Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru back in 1959, the Suicide Squad team has included countless DC villains among its ranks, including Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Bane, Killer Frost, Poison Ivy, Count Vertigo, Deathstroke, and Harley Quinn. The CW’s “Arrow” introduced their own version of the team in the most recent season of the series and the recent animated film, Batman: Assault on Arkham, offered another version of the team. Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 5, 2016.
This is an absolutely amazing trailer. It has everything you want and expect from a trailer. It has action, humor, violence and some great music. The fact that they synced the trailer to the song Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen automatically makes me want to see this film even more. Everyone in the cast looks great and both Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney (yes Jai Courtney) stole the trailer for me. Jared Leto looks even more insane as The Joker and I just want to see this film so bad. This film is going to be the new Guardians of the Galaxy and this trailer proves that. I think I may have found the film that I'm looking forward to more than Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Universal Pictures has revealed the trailer for Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Chloë Grace Moretz, Dave Franco, Ike Barinholtz, Carla Gallo, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Kiersey Clemons, Beanie Feldstein, Selena Gomez and Lisa Kudrow. You can watch the Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising trailer below. The first film, made for just $18 million, earned an impressive $270 million at the worldwide box office in 2014. Nicholas Stoller is back in the director’s chair, writing alongside Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. In the sequel, now that Mac (Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Byrne) have a second baby on the way, they are ready to make the final move into adulthood: the suburbs. But just as they thought they’d reclaimed the neighborhood and were safe to sell, they learn that the new occupants next door are a sorority even more out of control than Teddy (Efron) and his brothers ever dreamed of being. Tired of their school’s sexist, restrictive system, the unorthodox ladies of Kappa Nu have decided to start a house where they can do whatever the hell they want. When Shelby (Moretz) and her sisters, Beth (Kiersey Clemons) and Nora (Beanie Feldstein), find the perfect place just off campus, they won’t let the fact that it’s located on a quiet street stand in their way of parties as epic as the guys throw. Forced to turn to the one ex-neighbor with the skills to bring down the new Greeks next door, the Radners—alongside best friends Jimmy (Ike Barinholtz) and Paula (Carla Gallo)—bring in charismatic Teddy as their secret weapon. If he can infiltrate the sorority and charm his way through it, the thirtysomethings will shutter the Kappas’ home. But if they think that their neighbors are going down without a fight, they have severely underestimated the power of youthful ingenuity and straight-up crazy. Rogen and Goldberg also produce Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising alongside James Weaver through their Point Grey Pictures banner. Cohen and O’Brien will serve as executive producers alongside Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising will be released in theaters on Friday, May 20, 2016.
This trailer was absolutely hilarious. It has all of the trademarks of the first film and even more. I love that they got the main cast from the first film back for this I one and I really like the addition of Chloe Grace Moretz. One thing a comedy trailer needs to do is make me laugh and it did just that. One of the things you worry about is if they showed you every joke and the trailer for the first film didn't and this trailer showed enough to wet my appetite. I loved the first film and I'm really looking forward to this and hopefully it can be just as good as the first film.
Ahead of the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League special tonight on The CW, Warner Bros. Pictures has brought the social media channels for their upcoming Wonder Woman movie online (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) and released the first official logo for the film. Check out the Wonder Woman movie logo below. Starring Gal Gadot as the title hero, Wonder Woman also stars Chris Pine (Star Trek, The Finest Hours), Robin Wright (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (Clash of the Titans, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Exodus: Gods and Kings, Snowpiercer), Saïd Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In) Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, Nymphomaniac: Vol. I) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead). The film is being produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, with Richard Suckle, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and Rebecca Roven serving as executive producers. Joining Jenkins behind the camera are director of photography Matthew Jensen (Chronicle, Fantastic Four, HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (Amélie, A Very Long Engagement, Pan), Oscar-winning editor Martin Walsh (Chicago, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, V for Vendetta), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (The Dark Knight trilogy, Topsy-Turvy). Principal photography will take place on location in the UK, France and Italy. Set to open on June 23, 2017, the Wonder Woman movie is based on characters created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
I love seeing this logo. One of the many reasons why I love this logo is simply because it shows that we are getting a Wonder Woman film which will be the first solo female superhero film. After seeing a little bit of the footage they released tonight, I think DC/Warner Bros. may have made an amazing film. This is a film that every comic book fan has been wanting to see simply because Wonder Woman is the greatest female superhero of all-time and the fact she is getting a film speaks wonders (no pun intended) to the guts DC/Warner Bros has to bring the character to life. I was hesitant of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, but I'm really looking forward to see how she does in the role.
Deadline is reporting that two-time Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey (The Usual Suspects, American Beauty) has joined Danny Strong’s drama Rebel in the Rye, which will star Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: Apocalypse) as legendary author J.D. Salinger. Written and directed by Strong, the screenplay was adapted from the Kenneth Slawenski biography, JD Salinger: A Life. Spacey will portray Whit Burnett, a professor, editor at Story Magazine and mentor to the young Salinger. Rebel in the Rye takes us on a journey into the life and mind of the legendary and secretive author and tells the story of the birth of “The Catcher in the Rye.” As the author who captivated a generation, JD Salinger soared to the heights of the literary world but left it all behind for a life of seclusion. Through his rebellious youth, the bloody front lines of World War II, enduring great love and terrible loss, a life of rejection to the pages of The New Yorker, and the PTSD-fueled writer’s block which led to a spiritual awakening. Bloom’s Alex Walton said, “’The Catcher in the Rye’ is a classic coming of age story which continues to make a significant impression six generations later. The world has long been fascinated with JD Salinger, who the talented Nicholas Hoult will bring to life, in this enigmatic role.” Strong is known best for creating the hit FOX show “Empire,” in which he has written and directed multiple episodes of the ratings and pop culture phenomenon. In addition he has written the screenplays for The Butler, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2 as well as the HBO Films Recount and Game Change. He has won a Golden Globe, two Emmys, two Writer’s Guild Awards and a Peabody. Black Label Media is financing Rebel in the Rye with Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill producing alongside Academy Award winner Bruce Cohen (American Beauty, Silver Linings Playbook, Milk), Jason Shuman, and Danny Strong. The famously press-shy author was previously the subject of the poorly-received posthumous documentary Salinger, directed by Shane Salerno in 2013. Spacey, who was recently named studio head at the embattled Relativity Media, will next be seen in the biopic Elvis and Nixon opposite Michael Shannon, as well as headlining Barry Sonnenfeld’s comedy Nine Lives. He will begin shooting Edgar Wright’s musical heist film Baby Driver shortly.
I really love this casting. Kevin Spacey is a guy I mention a lot and it's for a good reason. He constantly gives great performances and he has such a rich history of film that it puts me to shame. I think this is a great role simply because he seems like the mentor type and mostly due to his, but also because of his knowledge of film and this is a really great role for him. This sounds like it could be another Oscar worthy role for Spacey and I'm really excited to see him in this film.
Screen Daily is reporting that Steve Coogan (Philomena, Alan Partridge) will play Stan Laurel and John C. Reilly (Guardians of the Galaxy, Step Brothers) will portray Oliver Hardy in BBC Films’ Stan & Ollie, a Laurel & Hardy biopic centering on the final 1953 UK tour of the famed comedy duo. The story centers on Laurel & Hardy, the world’s favorite comedy double act, who set out on a variety hall tour of Britain in 1953. Diminished by age and with their golden era as the kings of Hollywood comedy now behind them, they face an uncertain future. As they set out, crisscrossing the country, attendances are disappointingly low. But they’ve always been able to make each other laugh and as the charm and beauty of their performances shines through their audiences laugh too, and they re-connect with legions of adoring fans, old and new. The tour becomes a hit, but Laurel & Hardy can’t quite shake the spectre of Stan and Ollie’s past; and long buried ghosts, coupled with Oliver’s failing health, start to threaten their precious partnership. A portrait of their creative marriage begins to unfold as the duo, aware that they may be approaching their swan song, try to rediscover just how much they mean to each other. To be directed by Jon S. Baird (Filth), the screenplay for the Laurel & Hardy biopic has been written Jeff Pope, the Oscar-nominated writer of Philomena. BBC Films developed the feature alongside Faye Ward’s Fable Pictures and Jeff Pope’s Sonesta Films. “When I watch their movies, in my head it is forever a Saturday morning and I am six years old watching the TV at home utterly spellbound,” said Pope. “I am aware of the huge responsibility of bringing their characters to life, but I have not treated the boys with kid gloves or looked at them through rose coloured specs. They are living and breathing characters, with flaws and shortcomings. The research into this story threw up so many details and facts that I had no idea about. But everything I have done has come from a place of love and more than anything else I hope this shines through.” Executive producers are Christine Langan and Nichola Martin for BBC Films, Jeff Pope for Sonesta Films and Gabrielle Tana.
I think this is a terrific pairing. Both Steve Coogan and John C. Riley are two great comedic actors and putting them as two co-leads together in a Laurel & Hardy bio-pic sounds amazing. Laurel & Hardy were two of the best comedic actors to ever cross the big screen and their movies are all-time classics. I like how this film is going to talk about their life after all of the fame which will be a really neat perspective and this could possibly garner both men Oscar attention. It's a film I'm really looking forward to and I hope it doesn't disappoint.
