With Hotel Transylvania 2 being released this weekend, I thought it would be fitting to review its predecessor Hotel Transylvania. So without further ado...
Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's (voiced by Adam Sandler) lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of the world's most famous monsters--Frankenstein (voiced by Kevin James) and his bride (voiced by Fran Drescher), the Mummy (voiced by CeeLo Green), the Invisible Man (voiced by David Spade), a family of werewolves, and more--to celebrate his daughter Mavis (voiced by Selena Gomez)'s 118th birthday. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem--but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy (voiced by Andy Samberg) stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.
This is a pretty bad movie . Whenit comes to animated films, all audiences ask for is a decent story with some laughs and maybe a few heartbreaking ones as well and this film has those. The voice cast for the film has some familiar faces and several of those actors have been in live-action films as well and I think that actually hurts the film because none of them are believable as the characters they voicing. The plot of the film is pretty simple and while it is something kids might like and enjoy, but parents won't be amused with with it all. The film does get boring and bland at points and that's due to the weak plot, but it does pick up at the really funny moments and the little inside jokes that parents will get more than the kids. Overall this is a pretty lackluster animated film, but it does have the saving grace of being funny at critical moments. I give Hotel Transylvania a 5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Hotel Transylvania, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
