My Review of Captive

So I recently watched captive and I'm here to bring you my review? So without further ado...........

Captive (2015 film) poster.jpg

When Brian Nichols (played by David Oyelowo) on the run as the subject of a city wide manhunt and desperate to make contact with his newborn son - takes recovering meth addict Ashley Smith (played by Kate Mara) hostage in her own apartment, she turns for guidance to Rick Warren's best-selling inspirational book, The Purpose Driven Life. While reading aloud, Ashley and her would-be killer each face crossroads where despair and death intersect hope.

This is a really bad film. Look David Oyelowo and Kate Mara are two outstanding actors and in any other film they would be great, but in this film they are just terrible and they have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever which makes for a lot of awkward scenes. The plot of the film is interesting, but it is a basic paint by numbers hostage film with barely any suspense and no real character development. You have absolutely no reason to cheer for either of these two characters no matter how innocent they may come off in a particular scene. This film felt a little too stretched out and had a lot of unnecessary plot points and this probably would've done better as a 45 minute short film without having to use much filler material at all. Overall this is a bland and boring with no great performances from two stellar actors and nothing inspiring. I give Captive a 0.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Captive, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
