6-5-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

One of the highlights of Marvel's The Avengers was Mark Ruffalo not only as Bruce Banner but his giant green counterpart, The Hulk. Fans have been clamoring for more Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since then and Ruffalo says you're about to get what you want in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron. "[My role's] even bigger than last time, and it's more complex and it has more layers and a bit more arc," he told Total Film.

Ruffalo also spoke about the motion capture work for the film, which he seems to be enjoying even more than the last time. "I'm really tripping on the technology of this motion-capture stuff… now I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers."

Written and directed by Joss Whedon, Avengers: Age of Ultron also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Thomas Kretschmann, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader. It will debut in theaters on May 1, 2015.

This is great to hear. In The Avengers, The Hulk didn't really get a lot of screen time so it's great to hear that he'll be on screen a lot more. It's also good to hear Ruffalo enjoying the mo-cap work. If he stays dedicated then it could be a great performance.

20th Century Fox (via IGN) has debuted a new poster for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which you can check out in the gallery viewer below! Opening in theaters on July 11, the Matt Reeves-directed sequel stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.

This poster looks absolutely amazing. It gives us a little bit more insight to the film and how action packed the film could be. This is one of my most anticipated films of the year and I can't wait til it hits theaters.

Relativity Media has debuted, via Fandango, the trailer for director Michael Hoffman's adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' The Best of Me. You can check it out below.

Michelle Monaghan, James Marsden, Liana Liberato, Luke Bracey, Sebastian Arcelus and Gerald McRaney star in the story of Dawson and Amanda, two former high school sweethearts who find themselves reunited after 20 years apart, when they return to their small town for the funeral of a beloved friend. Their bittersweet reunion reignites the love they've never forgotten, but soon they discover the forces that drove them apart twenty years ago live on, posing even more serious threats today. Spanning decades, this epic love story captures the enduring power of our first true love, and the wrenching choices we face when confronted with elusive second chances.

The Best of Me hits theaters October 17.

The trailer looks great but it doesn't gauge my interest at all. Look I'm somewhat of a fan on the Nicholas Sparks books, but they are all the same and honestly the past few films have been sloppy, boring and very repetitive. I'll give the film a chance but I could honestly care less about the film.

Speaking of trailers, Millennium Entertainment has debuted, via Yahoo! Movies, the trailer for Are You Here, the feature debut from writer/director Matthew Weiner, best known for creating AMC's "Mad Men." Check it out in the player below!

Starring Zach Galifianakis, Amy Poehler and Owen Wilson, Are You Here begins when the off-the-grid Ben Baker (Galifianakis) inherits his estranged father's fortune. His best friend, womanizing local weatherman Steve Dallas (Wilson), then joins forces with him to battle the legal challenge brought by Ben's formidable sister (Poehler).

The comedy hits theaters in a limited release August 22.

This trailer is actually pretty good. The film looks as if it will be more of a dramadey (dram and comedy togehter) then just a straight up comedy. It also looks like we'll be getting a very different type of performance  from Zach Galifianakis then we are used to seeing. I can't wait to see the film later this year.

It was revealed late last year that MGM had brought aboard John Lee Hancock to rewrite their long-gestating remake of The Magnificent Seven. Today, Deadline reports that the studio is keen on casting Denzel Washington in a leading role and hopes to re-team him with Training Day and The Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua.

Originally drafted by "True Detective" scribe Nic Pizzolatto, The Magnificent Seven will remake the 1960 film directed by John Sturges that itself was inspired by Akira Kurosawa's 1954 classic Seven Samurai. Sturges' version starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn and Robert Vaughn as a group of disparate gunmen who come together to protect a Mexican village from bandits led by Eli Wallach. It led to a number of sequels as well as a CBS television series.

This is great casting if true. Denzel is one of the greatest actors of out generation and it'll be great to see him a film like this. Denzel Washington will be out of his comfort zone in the film but it'll be great to him in a western.
