The Top 10 Comic Book Characters I want to see on the Big Screen

As you all know I am a huge comic book guy as well as a big film fan. There have been a lot of great characters on the big screen, but there are a lot of characters that we as movie goers have never seen and it's sort of a shame. With the biggest movie genre in the world right now being comic book films, I think there a re a lot of opportunities for new characters to shine. With that being said I'm going to give you the top 10 comic book characters I want to see on the big screen. This will include the character as well as their comic affiliation (Marvel/DC), why I'd like to see them, who would be a perfect casting choice for the characters and the most likely scenario for them to be in a film. So without further ado...

10. Red Hulk (Marvel) - William Hurt
William Hurt (2005) crop.jpg

Ok this might be one of the few cheats I use for the list. For all practical purposes we have technically seen Red Hulk on the big screen, The reason for that is because General Thunderbolt Ross (currently played by William Hurt in the MCU) is the alter ego of Red Hulk. If you don't do a Planet Hulk film (which could be a small part of Thor: Ragnarok), then maybe it's revealed that Thuderbolt Ross has been exposed to same gamma radiation as Bruce Banner or figures out this might be the only to stop the Hulk is by becoming one himself. It would easily set-up a new solo Hulk film that everyone has been clamoring for and it would bring a great villain to the big screen.

9. Daken (Marvel) - Lee Byung-hun

For those that don't know Daken is the son of Wolverine. I think Daken would be a great addition for a couple of reasons. One is that he could possibly fight side by side with his father and it would create an interesting dynamic and we would see a more vulnerable side to Wolverine as he protects his son. Another reason is because once Hugh Jackman retires from Wolverine, people son't want him recast because he was perfect as the character and with this you basically keep Wolverine by having his son and you don't recast Hugh Jackman. It's a win-win scenario for everyone.

8. Vulture (Marvel) - Michael Keaton
Michael Keaton Face.jpg

We almost had the character on the big screen and we might be getting him in the next Spider-Man film. Vulture is easily the greatest villain that we've never seen in a Spider-Man film yet and he's one of the most intriguing villains for him to face. His flying ability is already giving him an advantage and he just presents so many challenges. He was going to be played by John Malkovich in the scrapped Spider-Man 4 from Sam Raimi. Currently this is the character Michael Keaton might be playing in Spider-Man: Homecoming. If he does appear and if the rumor about Tony Stark appearing in the film is true, then maybe we get to see the Spider Wings which Stark creates for Spider-Man to help fly against Vulture. He just presents a lot of possibilities for the big screen and hopefully we get him soon.

7. Raven (DC) - Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Here is another cheat for the list. We've seen Raven before, but only on the small screen in the tv series Teen Titans, but we've never seen her on the big screen. She brings an interesting dynamic to the DC Universe in the sense of her powers, but also in her backstory. Her biological father Trigon raped her mother and that's a traumatic experience we haven't really seen on the big screen. Plus bringing in Raven allows you to use Trigon effectively as a villain for the Justice League. It would a dark, yet bold path for DC to go this route with Raven on the big screen.

6. Hawkman/ Hawkgirl (DC) - Armie Hammer & Michelle Rodriguez

Hawkgirl (Shiera Hall).jpgMichelle Rodriguez by Gage Skidmore 2.jpg

Ok again I'm cheating once more for a couple of reasons. Number one is that you can't have one without the other so why make film and not include both of them. The second way is that they are both currently apart of the Arrowverse on The CW right now so we've gotten live-action versions before. It would be great for DC to explore Ancient Egypt which is something they've never done before and it would be a great way to introduce them just as they are in the televisions universe as reincarnated souls.

5. Beta Ray Bill (Marvel) - Forrest Whitaker

Beta Ray Bill is one of the more intriguing characters in the Marvel lore. He's not Asgardian, but he comes from a race known as the Korbinites. He is also one of few people who wield Mjolnir and he's an ally to Thor, He's be hinted at in one MCU film already and Thor: Ragnarok is the best way to introduce him in helping Thor and Hulk fight possibly Ragnarok. He would be a CGI character so whoever plays him won't have to do much other than the voice.

4. Deathstroke (DC) - Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy TIFF 2014.jpg

Trust me I'm only going to cheat a couple of more times. We've seen Deathstroke before on Arrow played brilliantly by Manu Bennett and if there was a way to have him play the film version, the I'd be down for it simpl,y because of who Deathstroke is and what he can do as an opposing foe in the DC Film universe. This is a role that many have speculated that Tom Hardy was going to play in the early casting rumors for the Suicide Squad film ( he was also in the running to play Rick Flagg). As of now no official announcement has been made, but there is a rumor going around that actor Scott Eastwood (who's character name in Suicide Squad hasn't ) will be playing Deathstroke. Until that is confirmed I'm going to assume we won't see the character soon.

3. Lobo (DC) - Tom Hardy
LoboComics.pngTom Hardy TIFF 2014.jpg

Lobo is a character a lot of comic book fans have been hoping for for a long time and there is a very distinct possibly we could see him soon. For a long time people wanted The Rock for the character, but now that he is playing Black Adam, he can't take the role. If Tom Hardy can't be Deathstroke for whatever reason or if Scott Eastwood is playing the character, why not bring Hardy back in the universe as Lobo in what would be perfect casting.

2. Green Arrow (DC) - Charlie Hunnam
Charlie Hunnam by Gage Skidmore 3.jpg

Ok I might need to cheat one more time after this. Stephen Amell is doing a great job as Oliver Queen and on the show Arrow, but with both the tv and film universes being separate for the time being we need a film version of the Green Arrow. It only makes sense simply because of the abilities the Green Arrow has and he would be a hug asset to the Justice League. Plus if the universes were to cross, seeing a guy like Hunnam side by side with Amell would be pretty cool.

1. Mister Sinister (Marvel) - Bryan Cranston

Now I know I am really cheating on this choice. Not tom spoil anything, but in X-Men: Apocalypse, there is a hint within the film that teases Mister Sinister. Since he hasn't been officially confirmed, this choice still counts. Mister Sinister is an awesome villain and his intentions could cause a lot of problems for the X-Men. I could see them do the X- Men: Forever storyline but not use the kid version of Mister Sinister and just go with a immortal man using young mutants to his advantage by creating a super-mutant like X-23.

So ladies and gentlemen who are sofacme the comic book heroes/villains you'd like to see on the big screen and what do you think of my list? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
