My Review of Now You See Me 2

So I recently watched Now You See Me 2 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

After fleeing from a stage show, the illusionists J. Daniel "Danny" Atlas, Merritt McKinney, Jack Wilder and Lula May (played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Lizzy Caplan) known as the Four Horsemen find themselves in more trouble in Macau, China. Devious tech wizard Walter Mabry (played by Daniel Radcliffe) forces the infamous magicians to steal a powerful chip that can control all of the world's computers. Meanwhile, vengeful FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (played by Mark Ruffalo) hatches his own plot against Thaddeus Bradley (played by Morgan Freeman), the man he blames for the death of his father.

This was a pretty disappointing film to watch. The key to a good magic trick is making sure your the smartest person in the room and when a film tries to be smart yet, comes off as pretty stupid then you failed to trick someone. That's what the film feels like and by that, the film tries so many different things and it becomes too smart for itself. The first film was a lot of fun as you were following along on the journey as the Horsemen avoid the police and all of the tricks are just mind-blowing leaving you in disbelief and this film doesn't do anything like that. The jokes feel forced and unnecessary and to be quite honest Lizzy Caplin was the worst part of the film which is surprising becuase she is generally a really funny actress and she just doesn't fit in the film and you can really feel the presence of Isla Fisher missing in the film. While Caplin was a disappointing addition, Daniel Radcliffe wasn't and he just fits his role so well and his character stand out so well. There are a lot of subplots that filter in and out of the film and they mostly don't fit and it makes the film feel like a jumbled mess. Of course you should've expected a mess with a like Jon M. Chu directing who is coming of the smash hit Jem and the Holograms. Honestly it's surprising that any studio would let the guy work for being such an awful director. A little side caveat, had the film been called No You Don't would have actually made the film a little more entertaining Overall this is a just a sloppy film that tries to do too much and none of the of the story doesn't fit well at all. I give Now You See Me 2 a 3 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Now You See Me 2, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
