So I recently watched Trolls and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.............
After the Bergens invade Troll Village, Poppy (voiced by Anna Kendrick), the happiest Troll ever born, and the overly-cautious, curmudgeonly Branch (voiced by Justin Timberlake) set off on a journey to rescue her friends. Their mission is full of adventure and mishaps, as this mismatched duo try to tolerate each other long enough to get the job done.
This was a really enjoyable film. Now when it was first announced that a film based around the ever popular troll doll toy line would be coming out, a lot of people rolled their eyes and it goes along with the mantra that Hollywood is out of original ideas so they make a movie out of a product to possibly gain some nostalgia viewers. Well to be honest, although it is based off of a property, we've never had a Trolls film so it's actually an original film so they technically aren't out of ideas. Anyway this film is pretty funny for it to be mainly a kids film and there is a lot of really childish humor that often becomes cringe-worthy, but there are some pretty solid jokes. The animation is pretty gorgeous and the animators did a great job of making every troll different and unique to where each are pretty recognizable as you go throughout the film. When it comes to storytelling, this film has no story or let's say not one that we haven't seen time and time again in films like these. What makes a film like this enjoyable is the music and having good music that both adults and kinds can get into is something that's hard to do on a consistent basis and it helps this film when you have a guy like Justin Timberlake involved with the production. Overall this is a nice little film that has some great animation and visuals with some decent jokes and solid music, but not having a story that it original really hurts in what could've been a really solid film as a whole. I give Trolls an 8 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Trolls, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
