My Review of Shut In

So I recently watched Shut In and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...........

Mary (played by Naomi Watts) is a child psychologist who lives in isolation in rural New England after her husband dies in a horrific car accident. The tragedy also leaves her 18-year-old stepson Stephen (played by Charlie Heaton) in a bedridden, catatonic state, making him completely dependent on her. When one of Mary's young patients goes missing and is presumed dead, she becomes convinced that the boy's (played by Jacob Tremblay) ghost is now haunting both her and Stephen.

This is an absolutely pathetic excuse for a film. 2016 has been a pretty great year for horror films such as The Witch, Green Room and Don't Breathe and with a cast like this, you would think that this film would follow suit. In all actuality it fails in every way possible and it just makes watching this film a miserable experience. It forces jump scares down your throat and it looks like the filmmakers were trying too hard to get a good scream out the audience.and when you push an emotion too hard it becomes annoying. The actors are doing the best they can with what they are given and if the story was a little better then you could say that this film was a solid horror film with brilliant performances, but they are overshadowed by the lackluster story. There are so many horror cliches in the film that it makes the film painful to watch as well as making it very predictable At the end of the film you are meant to be shocked on the reason for all of the events in the film and instead you want to laugh so hard that it hurts because the ending is just that ridiculously stupid. Overall this was a just a poor attempt at making a film and it takes away from some fairly decent performances. I give Shut In a 0.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Shut In, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
