So I recently watched Bad Santa 2 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Fueled by cheap whiskey, greed and hatred, Willie Soke (played by Billy Bob Thornton) teams up with his angry little sidekick, Marcus, to knock off a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve. Along for the ride is chubby and cheery Thurman Merman, a 250-pound ray of sunshine who brings out Willie's sliver of humanity. Mommy issues arise when the pair are joined by Willie's horror story of a mother, Sunny Soke (played by Kathy Bates), who raises the bar for the gang's ambitions, while somehow lowering the standards of criminal behavior.
This film is really funny, but it is a massive disappointment. The first film is just a perfect gem with a lot of crude humor and really great comedic performance from Billy Bob Thornton. Humor is something that is hard to perfect becasue it has to be in the right situation at the right time for it to hit hard enough to leave an impact. This film has some really great jokes that are just too crazy and it's puzzling on how it was allowed to be in the film. Other than that the same jokes from the first film come back into this film and it just makes the film bland. Billy Bob Thornton looks as if he is mailing in the performance and that he didn't really want to be apart of the film. Tony Cox is back for this film as well and he might be the most annoying character ever put on film and he just doesn't seem to fit in the film like he did in the first film and maybe a cameo might've been better suited for him. The child from the first film (Thurman Merman) is back and he is easily the dumbest character ever put on screen and it's just really hard to believe how much stupider this character has gotten as he has grown up. Easily the best part of the film is Kathy Bates as she fits in so well as the mother and she acts like she had a fun time with the film unlike the rest of her co-stars. A plot in a comedy film like this is often overlooked becasue the film tries harder to get laughs out of you than understand the film as a whole and the story for this film is the exact same one as the last film which isn't shocking considering this film probably shouldn't have happened in the first place, but to show no effort in making the film really reflects badly upon the filmmakers. Overall this is a boring and lazy film with uninspired performances and no originality. I give Bad Santa 2 a 2 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Bad Santa 2, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
