My Review of Bleed for This

So I recently watched Bleed for This and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Vinny "The Pazmanian Devil" Pazienza (played by Miles Teller), a local Providence boxer, shoots to stardom after winning two world title fights. After a near-fatal car accident leaves him with a broken neck, he is told he may never walk again. Against all odds and doctor's orders, renowned trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart) agrees to help Vinny return to the ring just a year after the accident for what could be the last fight of his life. Based on a true story.

This was a really boring film. It;s boring in the sense that it;s the same boxing story we've seen time and time again where either the main character is an underdog who becomes a star or whether the main character is already a star and something happens that makes him the underdog and this film is the latter half. Look Vinny "The Pazmanian Devil" Pazienza's story is remarkable and extraordinary that it's almost hard to believe he could comeback from such a horrific injury and still continue to have the success he had before the injury. Now while the story itself is boring for being the same story we've seen before, the action is breathtaking and this film has some of the best boxing scenes ever seen on film and it's due to the evolving technology and techniques that have been developed recently to make them feel even more real. Miles Teller does a decent job of portraying Pazienza, but he doesn't really pull off the northeastern accent and it seems like he was trying too hard to pull it off and it can really take you out of the film because you focus so much on it. The film really relies on the performances of the supporting cast which includes Aaron Eckhart and Katey Segal and those really help set the tone for the rest of the film. Overall the film is inspirational in a lot of different ways and it has some brilliant performances, but it's the same underdog story that's been told so much that we already the know the outcome. I give Bleed for This a 6.5 out of 10.
