So I recently watched The Drop and I'm here to bring you mt review. So without further ado........
Lonely bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) is involved in a covert scheme of funneling cash to local gangsters - "money drops" in the underworld of Brooklyn bars. Under the heavy hand of his employer and cousin Marv (played by James Gandolfini), Bob finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood's past.
This movie is just awesome. The film doesn't really bring anything new to the table, but the story is powerful and smart enough to bring new twists and turns to the film. The film has some of the best dialogue and a great script. For a great script to work you have to have a solid cast to make it have an impact and this film has that. James Gandolfini and Tom Hardy give the best performances of their respective career and Gandolfini (in his final onscreen performance) gives a performance that could contend for an Oscar. Tom Hardy also shows how good of an actor he really is and he has improved immensely and really come into his own.The supporting cast which includes Noomi Rapace, Matthias Schoenaerts and Elizabeth Rodriguez also give amazing performances that really compliment the two main leads. The film benefits from a slow and methodical pace and really could rejuvenate the crime film genre. The film does suffer form a few parts that are predicatalbe but other than that the film is sleeper hit. Overall the film has amazing performances, an amazing pace and an amazing story. I give The Drop a 9.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Drop, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
