9-10-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Earlier today, we got our first images of the new Batmobile on the Detroit set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as a stunt scene was being prepared for shooting. Now a few more images of the vehicle, along with the alternate stunt model, have debuted online. You can check them out below! Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy, the Zack Snyder-directed film hits theaters on March 25, 2016.

These are really cool photos. It's really good to see more of the new Batmobile and looks absolutely awesome. There were some other pictures that were released that had the shield around the Batmobile and they looked pretty cool as well. Warner Bros./DC has done everything right with this film so far and hopefully when it's all said and done the final product will be one of the greatest films of all-time.

Production recently resumed on Star Wars: Episode VII, following Harrison Ford's on-set injury, and with it comes a new set photo. Making Star Wars spotted a photo of a local flying school in South London which revealed a tarp-covered X-Wing as well as half of the fan-favorite Millennium Falcon. You can check it out below. Starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Chong, Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson, the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII will debut in theaters on December 18, 2015.

These are pretty cool to see. First the from what I can see the X-Wing has been updated and it looks awesome. Now for the Millennium Falcon it looks amazing and it's only halfway done! I'm really excited to see both of these updated ships on the big screen.

It was rumored back in June that work had started on another big screen entry in the Rambo franchise (launched in 1982 with First Blood). Now, thanks to reader 'nopr100,' we know the title! Sylvester Stallone will be heading into one last fight with Rambo: Last Blood, which he also plans to direct. Stallone last played the role of John Rambo in 2008's Rambo, which earned $113.2 million worldwide on a $50 million budget. He also wrote and directed that film. Then in 2009, a rumored synopsis hit for a fifth film that made it seem like Stallone was planning to adapt James Byron Huggins' novel "Hunter." At this time, however, official plot details are unavailable.

This is great news to hear. I'm a huge fan of this franchise and I'm glad that the character of John Rambo will be back on the big screen once again. Hopefully this film will be as brutal and violent as the last film.

Following their critically-acclaimed performances opposite one another in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill have been planning American Nightmare: The Ballad of Richard Jewell, a new feature film based on the life of security guard Richard Jewell who, in 1996, became both a national hero and, immediately thereafter, a suspect in the Olympic Park bombing. Today, Deadline reveals that the project may have found a director in Paul Greengrass (United 93, Captain Phillips). They report that Greengrass is circling the film, but has not yet made a commitment.

Based on the Vanity Fair article of the same name by Marie Brenner, the film will feature Hill as Jewell, whose life is thrown into turmoil following allegations of his involvement in the disaster. DiCaprio, meanwhile, will play his lawyer. Jewell was eventually exonerated, but not at the expense of an investigation that, for months, had the American public believing him a potential terrorist.

This sounds really awesome. Paul Greengrass is an awesome director (as showcased by my director spotlight which you can check out here). Pairing him with two talented actors like DiCaprio and Hill is a really good choice and this film sounds like it will be a heavy hitter for Oscars.

Morgan Freeman, who is back on the big screen in this weekend's Dolphin Tale 2, has signed on for a role in a very different sequel: Seth MacFarlane's Ted 2. Variety reports that Freeman will play a famous civil rights lawyer who comes to Ted's aid. Written by, directed by and starring MacFarlane, Ted 2 is Universal and Media Rights Capital's follow-up to the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. Joined once again by star Mark Wahlberg and fellow Ted writers Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild, MacFarlane produces the live action/CG-animated comedy alongside Bluegrass Films' Scott Stuber, as well as John Jacobs and Jason Clark. Amanda Seyfried is taking the female lead this time around, but Mila Kunis is expected to appear as well. Ted 2 hits the big screen June 26, 2015.

This is really great news to hear. Morgan Freeman is one of the best actors in the business and adding his talents to this film is great. I really enjoyed the last film and hopefully this one can be just as funny and hopefully Seth MacFarlane can redeem himself after the abysmal A Million Ways to Die in The West.
