My Review of The Snowman

So I recently watched The Snowman and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

The Snowman (2017) poster.jpg

For Detective Harry Hole (played by Michael Fassbender), the death of a young woman during the first snowfall of winter feels like anything but a routine homicide. His investigation leads him to "The Snowman Killer," an elusive sociopath who continuously taunts Hole with cat-and-mouse games. As the vicious murders continue, Harry teams up with a brilliant recruit to try and lure the madman out of the shadows before he can strike again.

This is one of the more disappointing and boring films you will ever see. From the trailers you think you are getting some sort of psychological thriller that will keep you guessing throughout the entire film on who the killer is. Instead you get a film that doesn't develop its characters and becomes pretty predictable very quickly. Half of the time the story doesn't even focus on the case at hand and you get a lot of irrelevant materiel that looks as if it was added for fluff. Nobody in the film is the least bit interesting and all of the performances are dull and wooden which is shocking when you consider you have talents like Fassbender, J.K. Simmons and Rebecca Ferguson. The film follows a lot of cliches within the the genre and fails to present anything different to help it stand out. The film doesn't know what it wants to be and it jumps around to a lot of different things without making things cohesive.

The editing in the film is just terrible and a lot of story choices just don't make sense or last long enough for them to make sense. While the film does have a lot of really big glaring mistakes, the cinematography is gorgeous to say the least and you get the sense that you are the same scenes with the characters although you probably don't want to be in those scenes for many of the reasons listed above. Overall this is a great example of a film not knowing what it wanted to be and tried to put everything together without rhyme or reason and to waste a lot of great acting talent. I give The Snowman a 1 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Snowman, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
