My Review of Knight of Cups

So I recently watched Knight of Cups and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

A Los Angeles screenwriter (played by Christian Bale) indulges his wild side with a stripper (played by Teresa Palmer), a model (played by Freida Pinto) and a married woman (played by Natalie Portman).

This was a really confusing film. Terrance Malick is a fantastic, but pretty strange director and the films he makes have meaning in a contemporary setting, yet he tries to cram so much detail into a film that the main point often gets muddled and gets lost in the shuffle. This film is split into 8 different parts that give you an insight into different parts Christian Bale's characters life and you sometimes don't know what is going on because you are having to focus on so many different things at once. Speaking of Christian Bale, his performance is pretty solid and he really carries all of the momentum through each of the various different chapters of the film. While their appearances are short both Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett are really solid and give some powerful performances that could've been great had they been on screen longer. One thing that makes any film great is the cinematography in this film there are so many gorgeous angles and shots done by the great Emmanuel Lubezki who is looking likely to win a third consecutive Oscar and he could get nominated for another one with this film. The film basically tries to explain mans fall from grace and while that's a great story the film just isn't long enough for someone to get emotionally attached to the main character and his story becuase you having to pay close attention to everything going on in the film. Overall this film is a pretty big jumbled mess, but the performances and cinematography are enough to keep you interested in the film. I give Knight of Cups a 5.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Knight of Cups, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
