So I recently watched Deadpool and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.......
Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces operative who now works as a mercenary. His world comes crashing down when evil scientist Ajax (played by Ed Skrein) tortures, disfigures and transforms him into Deadpool. The rogue experiment leaves Deadpool with accelerated healing powers and a twisted sense of humor. With help from mutant allies Colossus (played by Stefan Kapičić) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (played by Brianna Hildebrand), Deadpool uses his new skills to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
This was an absolutely fun film to watch. This is a film that a lot of fanboys have been waiting for for a really long time and to finally get not only a Deadpool film, but a pure unadulterated R-rated film. Now while other films such as Watchmen and most recently Kingsman have been really great R-rated comic book films, they haven't been as mainstream or as desired as a Deadpool film. Ryan Reynolds has been pushing to make this film his entire life and after the version that was portrayed in the god-awful X-Men Origins: Wolverine, he deserved a second chance and boy does he make the most of it. He completely owns the role and he gives one of the better performances of his career and all he basically had to do was be himself. The film itself is just absolutely hilarious from the opening credits and all of the jokes work in there own special way and there are a lot of nods towards pop culture and the fact that Deadpool realizes he himself is in a movie makes the film feel more real. All of the traits that make Deadpool great are in this film such as the violence, the 4th-wall breaks and chimichangas. The story isn't a typical story told in a superhero film and the romantic parts of the film work so well together with the violence and the comedy. The film is told through real-time and various flashbacks that fill in certain gaps and while the origin story is hilarious and heartbreaking there are a couple of dull moments within those flashbacks that slowed to film down way too much. Overall this was a really fun film and maybe this film will give filmmakers and studios the confidence to make more mainstream R-rated comic book films. I give Deadpool a 9.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Deadpool, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
