My Review of The Walk

So I recently watched The Walk and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.......

The Walk (2015 film) poster.jpg

The Walk is the true story of a young dreamer, Philippe Petit (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and a band of unlikely recruits who together achieve the impossible: an illegal wire walk in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. With little more than nerve and blind ambition, Petit and his ragtag crew overcome daunting physical obstacles, betrayals, countless close calls and overwhelming odds to beat the system and execute their mad plan.

This is an intense film. On a personal side of things I was really scared to see this movie because I'm afraid of heights so seeing someone walk across a wire on top of a 1,300 foot building made me a little queasy. As for the film itself it does have a lot of intense moments, but the build up to the ultimate climax is just so boring and when you get to the climax you almost don't want to care about what Petit accomplished. Now granted there are some intense moments in the build-up, the stuff around the build just didn't do a whole lot for the film. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was an odd choice for Philippe because of the accent and it wasn't as distracting as it could've been, The performance he gives is fantastic and he really embodies who Philippe was. There was a documentary that came out 7 years ago called Man on Wire and it told this exact same story and it did a lot better than this film did. Robert Zemeckis is know for creating some really beautiful and visually captivating films and while this film does have some great visuals, it's not one of the best jobs Zemeckis has don. Overall this is a great film with a great and powerful story, but the overall film has boring first half and a lackluster second half. I give The Walk 6.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Walk, what would you rate it,and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
