So I recently watched Crimson Peak and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
When her heart is stolen by a seductive stranger (played by Tom Hiddleston), a young woman (played by Mia Wasikowska) is swept away to a house atop a mountain of blood-red clay: a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever. Between desire and darkness, between mystery and madness, lies the truth behind Crimson Peak.
This was a weird movie to watch. That's not meant to be taken in a bad, but the overall film was just weird. At first glance you think this is going to be a straight horror film with a lot of interesting creatures and instead you get a love story with interesting creatures. With that change in the story makes the marketing for the film confusing when you're expecting something completely different. The performances are pretty great and even with the story tone change they are able to push on and help carry the film along. There are quite a few creepy parts, but there's nothing that will give you nightmares. The creature design is fantastic and that's one thing director Guillermo Del Toro is great at. The production design and costume design are just absolutely beautiful and it would be a shock if they aren't at least nominated at The Oscars next year. Overall this film is a complete mislead, but everything else about besides the story is really fantastic and maybe a February release date might have sufficed for the film. I give Crimson Peak a 7.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Crimson Peak, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
