My Review of Lincoln

With today be Abraham Lincoln's 206th birthday I thought it would be fitting to review a film that dealt with a major issue during his presidency Lincoln. So without further ado...

In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Abraham Lincoln (played by Daniel-Day Lewis) pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.

This is a pretty incredible film. Stephen Spielberg is one of the greatest directors of all-time and what he was able to do with this film was pretty amazing. At first this was supposed to be an HBO film instead of a feature film. Now the film isn't your typical bio-pic and that kind of let me down because it wasn't what I expected, but I still like what was done with this film. Daniel-Day Lewis gives what is in my opinion one of his top 3 performances of his career and he completely transforms into Abraham Lincoln and you can tell how invested he was into this character. The supporting cast for the film which includes Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones and Joseph Gordon-Levitt all give spectacular performances and they really carry the film along. The film does have a long run-time and you really feel it once you get to the 1 hour and 45 mark and you just want the film to end so the pacing was a pretty big issue. Overall this was an amazing film and important film for everyone to see, but it gets to be really boring and it is a really slow moving film. I give Lincoln a 9 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Lincoln, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
