Well if you didn't know it, The Oscars were on last night and like everybody else I was watching and following along very closely and I even did a live blog. As with every Oscars ceremonies there are always some great things and some very controversial things that happen or are said. With all of that being said I'm going to give you my 5 overall thoughts on the Oscars as well as a small look ahead to the 88th Academy Awards. So without further ado...

Alright here are my 5 takeaways from The Oscars last night...
1. Out of all of the winners last night there wasn't a lot of big surprises
2. I thought the speeches were just absolutely fantastic. There was a lot of passion behind them and they all had a message. The best speech goes to Graham Moore as he bravely admitted that he had thoughts of suicide and he all told us to stay weird.
3. Out of the 4 actor winners, they all deserved it and they were all pretty much locks other than Redmayne. I would have loved to have seen Keaton win, but I'm happy and not surprised that Redmayne won
4. For the people complaining that American Sniper got robbed, I just want to say that if you are going to argue for a movie then at least watch the other contenders. Just because American Sniper was the only film that you watched out of the nominees doesn't mean that it should've won. Get out and watch other films.
5. Alright now to the judgement of Neil Patrick Harris. Look I was really excited for him to host The Oscars and I thought he would do an amazing job and he ended up being terrible. The opening sequence was fantastic and he had a few good jokes here and there, but overall he was just boring.
Overall I give this years Oscars a 7.5
As for next year's Oscars there are a lot of fantastic films coming out and the categories are going be stacked. Look out for The Revenant, Silence, Southpaw, The Hateful Eight and Legend to be big-time contenders. As for the host Neil Patrick Harris, he isn't coming back, but I think he should get another shot in about 5 or 7 years. Look for these people to be in contention to host next year...
1. Kevin Hart
2. Steve Martin
3. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
4. Jimmy Kimmel
5. Kevin Spacey
