Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

Jay Hernandez has joined the cast of Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming Suicide Squad. According to TheWrap, the “Friday Night Lights” star will play a mystery role in the DC Comics adaption with the outlet speculating that one possibility is the role of an inmate who shares a cell with The Joker. Hernandez joins a diverse cast that already includes two-time Academy Award nominee Will Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness, Focus) as Deadshot; Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop, Easy Money) as Rick Flagg; Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, Focus) as Harley Quinn; Oscar winner Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club, Alexander) as the Joker; Jai Courtney (Divergent, The Water Diviner) as Boomerang; Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina, upcoming Pan) as Enchantress; and two-time Oscar nominee Viola Davis (The Help, Prisoners) as Amanda Waller. Written and directed by Fury and End of Watch‘s David Ayer, Suicide Squad is based on the comic originally created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru back in 1959. Suicide Squad is setting up shop in Toronto, Canada at their Pinewood extension, starting this month. Following two months of pre-production, the film will shoot from April until September for a August 5, 2016 release.
This is really great casting. Jay Hernandez hasn't been in a lot of films, but from what I seen of him has been pretty impressive. I hope that his role isn't limited to a guy who is The Joker's cellmate. I'd like for the filmmakers to expand his role and maybe make him The Joker's head henchman. Like I said before this is great casting and I cannot wait to see this film.
Warner Bros. Pictures has more fuel-injected mayhem for you in the new international trailer for the upcoming Max Max: Fury Road, which you can check out below! Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth film of George Miller’s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise and is co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max (Tom Hardy), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland. Also starring Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Mad Max: Fury Road opens in 2D and 3D theaters on May 15, 2015.
This was pretty bland trailer. I say that only because it didn't show anything new from the film and I just felt like it wasted my time. That however doesn't lower my expectations for the film. I'm a huge fan of the Mad Max franchise I'm glad this film is finally coming out and I cannot wait to see the film.
Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM have moved the filming for the “Rocky” spinoff Creed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and we’ve got your first look at Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan on the set of the November 25 release. Creed will follow the son of Apollo Creed with Stallone set to reprise his Rocky Balboa role, acting as the younger Creed’s reluctant trainer. The elder Creed, played by Carl Weathers, appeared in the first four “Rocky” films until a fight with Ivan Drago in Rocky IV led to his death in the ring. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film is also produced by Stallone along with Robert Chartoff, Kevin King Templeton, and Irwin Winkler. Nicolas Stern is executive producer. Creed was co-written by Aaron Covington and Coogler.

I really like this photo. I just love seeing both Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan on set with each other and plus adding in the shot of Adrian's (named after Talia Shire's character in the franchise after the character passed away before the events of Rocky Balboa) This film has a lot going for it from the director to the cast to the story and it has a real shot of being an Oscar contender. I'm a huge fan of the Rocky franchise and this film has a shot to top the original Rocky film and I cannot wait to see it.
The Settlers of Catan, the hit board game, is headed to the big screen. Producer Gail Katz (Pawn Sacrifice, The Perfect Storm) has obtained film and television rights through her Gail Katz Productions banner. Created by Klaus Teuber, the multiplayer strategy game sees players attempt to create the dominant community on the ever-changing fictional island of Catan. Settlers must outwit one another amidst fierce competition for the island’s scarce resources. “I’ve been wanting to see an adaptation of the game for years,” says Katz, “ever since my ‘Catan’-obsessed college-aged kids introduced me to it. The island of Catan is a vivid, visual, exciting and timeless world with classic themes and moral challenges that resonate today. There is a tremendous opportunity to take what people love about the game and its mythology as a starting point for the narrative.” “We are thrilled to be working with Gail on ‘The Settlers of Catan,’” said Guido Teuber, Managing Director of Catan, Inc. “Catan players are a diverse and dedicated group who are drawn in by the game’s social interaction and strategy. We owe it to the fans all over the world to make sure any CATAN content created lives up to what they have come to expect of the ‘Catan’ brand. We are confident that our partnership with Gail will take us there.” The Settlers of Catan is currently available in over 30 languages and 50 countries around the world and has sold over 22 million board games.
This is pretty interesting news. Now let me start off and say that I have never heard of this game, but it does sound like something I would play. Since I don't know anything about the film I'm going to have to a little research and have to go based off of the producers comments. Once I see a trailer I'll know if I'm interested or not.
With the first film, Fifty Shades of Grey, currently in theaters and performing beyond expectations at the box office, Variety is reporting on a new wrinkle that could affect future big screen adaptations of the book’s two sequels, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. According to the trade, author E L James is seeking creative control over the screenplay to the first sequel and is currently negotiating with Universal Pictures to provide the adaptation herself. Kelly Marcel, who drafted the first film, is not likely to return, nor is director Sam Taylor-Johnson. Starring Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Victor Rasuk, Marcia Gay Harden, Callum Keith Rennie, Jennifer Ehle, Max Martini, Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford and Rita Ora, Fifty Shades of Grey is currently standing at a worldwide box office haul of more than $311 million. A global phenomenon, Fifty Shades of Grey was first published in 2011 and follows the relationship of 27-year-old billionaire Christian Grey (Dornan) and college student Anastasia Steele (Johnson). The subsequent novels in the series explore the couples deepening relationship. The trilogy has been translated in over 50 languages worldwide since its release. To date, the ”Fifty Shades” trilogy has sold over 70 million copies worldwide in e-book and print, making it one of the fastest-selling book series ever.
Will this really help the film? One of the things I had a problem with in Fifty Shades of Grey was the writing because it was just absolutely horrendous. Plus just because you wrote the book doesn't mean anything. A lot of authors have adapted their books to film scripts and have had success, but some have failed miserably. Some have let other adapt their books and some have failed and some have failed, so it honestly doesn't matter who writes the script. One thing I have heard about the books is that they are horribly written so it seems like she won't help the film anyway.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, which of these stories peaked your interest or was there another story that interested you? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
