My Review of The Fate of the Furious

So I recently watched The Fate of the Furious and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

With Dom (played by Vin Diesel) and Letty (played by Michelle Rodriguez) married and the rest of the crew exonerated, the globe-trotting team has found some semblance of a normal life. They soon face an unexpected challenge when a mysterious woman named Cipher (played by Charlize Theron) forces Dom to betray them all. Now, they must unite to bring home the man who made them a family and stop Cipher from unleashing chaos.

Although it's not as great as previous entries, it still hits most of the beats that the previous film knocked out of the park. After the death of Paul Walker, many speculated that the 7th film was the last film in the franchise and with a record breaking run at the box office, we get this film and more to come down the line. This film does a really nice job of continuing on where the remaining cast left off at in the last film and it just gives us a great sense of how they've moved on after the events of the other films. Performance wise you don't expect much out of these films and the acting aside from Charlize Theron (who is easily the best villain of the franchise to date which isn't saying much) and Dwayne Johnson (who is absolutely hilarious), everyone else in the film is just way too over the top in every aspect and every type of scene whether it be comedic or emotional. As mentioned before Dwayne Johnson is hilarious and the chemistry between him and Jason Statham is perfect and it would be kinda cool if we somehow got a spin-off film with those two. As you would expect with these types of films, the story isn't the greatest in the world and the film is very predictable which hurts the film in the sense of enjoying it more. However, people don't come to these films to see good stories or great performances, but for the big, crazy action scenes and there are a lot of them in this film and while they seem unrealistic, it is still an amazement and how far the franchise is willing to push the action with each passing film. Overall this is a film that you can have a lot of fun with as long as you don't expect too much and just enjoy the film for what it is. I give The Fate of the Furious a 7.5 out of 10.
