So I recently watched Nerve and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.............
Industrious high school senior Vee Delmonico (played by Emma Roberts) is tired of living life on the sidelines. Pressured by her friends, Vee decides to join Nerve, a popular online game that challenges players to accept a series of dares. It's not long before the adrenaline-fueled competition requires her to perform increasingly dangerous stunts. When Nerve begins to take a sinister turn, Vee finds herself in a high-stakes finale that will ultimately determine her entire future.
This was a really fun and interesting film. One thing people keep asking for from Hollywood is original content and this is a perfect example of that. Now while the story itself is dreadful and lazy, the concept is one of the most intriguing that's been on the big screen in long time. The leads of Emma Roberts and Dave Franco are phenomenal in the film and they both have amazing chemistry with each other that lets you as an audience member get emotionally connected with them. The film moves at a blazing fast fast pace that makes the film feel like it takes just 30 minutes when in reality it has a 96 minute runtime. With the fast pace of the film, you are kept on the edge of your seat anticipating what is going to happen next and wonder how far these characters are willing to go in the film. Moving at a fast pace also doesn't allow you to appreciate the visual effects and lighting of the film that just really help you set-up the background of the film and a get a feel for the environment surrounding the characters. Going back to the story, it's filled with a lot of inconsistencies and plotholes that are glaringly obvious and just painful to watch. Overall this was a interesting concept with a lot of great ideas, but the story just isn't interesting enough to keep you focus on what the movie's message is. I give Nerve a 7.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Nerve, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
