So I recently watched Jason Bourne and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
It's been 10 years since Jason Bourne (played by Matt Damon) walked away from the agency that trained him to become a deadly weapon. Hoping to draw him out of the shadows, CIA director Robert Dewey (played by Tommy Lee Jones) assigns hacker and counterinsurgency expert Heather Lee (played by Alicia Vikander) to find him. Lee suspects that former operative Nicky Parsons (played by Julia Stiles) is also looking for him. As she begins tracking the duo, Bourne finds himself back in action battling a sinister network that utilizes terror and technology to maintain unchecked power.
This film is just a complete disappointment. The original Bourne trilogy is one of the best trilogies of all-time and after going away from that with new characters in The Bourne Legacy and failing the only logical thing to do is bring back Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass to help the franchise get back to where it was and it just fails. The original films concluded the story of Jason Bourne perfectly as you found out a lot about him and even his real name so going back to the well and making a new film with nothing really to build towards was unnecessary. There is nothing special about the film like there was in the other Bourne films such as the aforementioned story and the action is nothing spectacular which is a huge letdown considering how high the bar was set from the other films. Seeing Matt Damon back as Jason Bourne is a little nostalgic, but that's basically all the film has. Although the action isn't as great there are a few nice set pieces, but they do nothing to help the film in anyway. Another thing that brings the film down is Tommy Lee Jones and he just looks so bored and lost on screen that it makes every scene he is in hard to watch. The one bright spot is Alicia Vikander and she feels like she fits in well with the rest of universe and if other films get made, then look for her to have an even bigger role. Overall this film is by the biggest disappointment of the year and it doesn't live up to anything the original films built. I give Jason Bourne a 3 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Jason Bourne, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
