My Review of The Young Messiah

So I recently watched The Young Messiah and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Mary (played by Sara Lazzaro), Joseph (played by Vincent Walsh) and 7-year-old Jesus (played by Adam Greaves-Neal) embark on a journey from Egypt to Nazareth after the young boy miraculously brings someone back to life. When King Herod (played by Jonathan Bailey) orders the death of the child, Roman centurion Severus (played by Sean Bean) starts to pursue the family across the desert. As Mary and Joseph worry about his safety, Jesus' natural curiosity allows him to understand more about the world and his remarkable powers.

This was a really interesting film. Now we've seen countless stories like this over and over again and they can sometimes get really boring and at times this film does as the main trio travel along their path. Also these types of films tend to lean towards one side or the other and this film really does lean towards the side of the of the believers and it doesn't really mention the non-believers much other than the escape form Severus which isn't much of a mention at all. The story is nothing new and it tries to build suspense of Jesus possibly dying at such a young age, but we all know that that doesn't happen if we've have read and believe the Bible. The part of the film that makes it feel somewhat fresh is that we see Jesus at a different age compared to other films where it is based on his crucifixion. If you are a true believer than you will enjoy this movie a lot because it was made especially for you and it caters to your every need and if you don't believe then you probably want to skip the film just to save your money. It's a problem that the genre has when it doesn't speak to people on both sides of the aisle and it's one thing that truly needs to be fixed if they want to reach more people. Overall this film has a good message , but it just doesn't fully get it across to keep your attention. I give The Young Messiah a 3 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Young Messiah, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
