My Review of The Brothers Grimsby

So I recently watched The Brothers Grimsby and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Dimwitted Nobby (played by Sacha Baron Cohen) lives in an English fishing town with his loving girlfriend (played by Rebel Wilson) and nine children. For the last 28 years, he's been searching for his long-lost brother Sebastian (played by Mark Strong). When the two finally reunite, Nobby finds out that his sibling is a top MI6 agent who's just uncovered a sinister plot. Wrongfully accused and on the run, Sebastian now realizes that he needs Nobby's help to save the world and prove his innocence.

This is a funny yet really stupid film. Sacha Baren Cohen has pushed the envelope in every single film he has wrote and starred in and he doesn't hold back in this film. The film tries to be more charming than his previous films, but the humor just doesn't that well with the story they are telling. However the humor is the best part and there are just so many laughs that are really disturbing and are NSFW. Both Sacha Baren Cohen and Mark Strong are fantastic actors and they have great chemistry when they are on screen together. When they aren't on screen with each they continue to give good performances eventhough the rest of the supporting cast falls flat. Going back to the story, it seems the film wanted to have some heart-warming moments, but that's just something Sacha Baren Cohen can do and it really just hurt the film in what it wanted to be. There are a few brights spots when it comes to the action, but again the humor just doesn't fit well with anything the film was trying to do. While there are great jokes and some really raunchy moments some of the jokes fell flat and they were just hard pressed for laughs when there weren't any. Overall the film knew what it wanted to be, but it was never able to make different parts connect together to make a good film. I give The Brothers Grimsby a 4 out of 10.
