So I recently watched Everybody Wants Some!! and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
In 1980 Texas, a college freshman (played by Blake Jenner) meets his new baseball teammates (played by Will Brittain and Ryan Guzman), an unruly group of disco-dancing, skirt-chasing partyers.
This was a really fun film to watch. Richard Linkliter is a master director and he does two things really well in films and that's comedy and baseball together and both work well in this film. He is able to show us the young adult human emotion that college kids have and it works so well that you as an audience member are invested in what they are doing. It understands the story it is trying to tell as well as the time the film is set in. The film is somewhat of a sequel to Dazed and Confused, but it really doesn't connect to it much as Linkliter has mentioned in interviews. The film has a relaxed feel to it where you just understand everything going on and it moves at a really smooth and nice pace where it tries to build every character up and they are all developed really well. There are some points in the film where it tries to spout off a lot of nonsense that just doesn't go well with the film and at there times where you wonder why those moments are in the film. The cast in the film is a pretty great, but the standout is Blake Jenner who just proved that he has acting chops and he'll be in a lot of good roles in the upcoming future. Also the the soundtrack for this film is outstanding and it might even top Guardians of the Galaxy for best film soundtrack of all-time. Overall this might Linkliter's second best film just behind Boyhood, but it just misses on a few of the jokes and it adds a few scenes that were totally unnecessary, but it is a look at one of the very early 2017 Oscar contenders. I give Everybody Wants Some!! a 9 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Everybody Wants Some!!, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
