So I recently watched Sleepless and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado........
Undercover Las Vegas police officer Vincent Downs (played by Jamie Foxx) finds himself caught in a high-stakes web of corrupt cops, internal affairs and murderous gangsters. When a failed heist leads to the kidnapping of his teenage son (played by Octavius J. Johnson), Downs must race against time during a wild and restless night to save him and bring the criminals to justice.
This is just an absolutely atrocious film. Jamie Foxx is an Academy Award winning actor and you have to ask yourself why in the world is he in this film. Is he that desperate to act in an over the top action film that really has no set goal in mind with a plot that makes no sense and gets very muddled? The answer to the question is yes he is very desperate and you can tell. The way he just overacts is just too prominent and it's pretty cringe-worthy to watch. Action wise this film has some of the most over-the-top and unrealistic action scenes ever put on screen and everything just feels so sloppy and no effort went into making the film. This is a remake of a French film Sleepless Night and that film got so much high critical praise for it's very cleaver plot and it's fast pace storytelling and it's unfortunate remake doesn't take anything from the original to make it feel special. The whole films takes place in one day and it really just rushes through everything without giving any thought to the rest of the film and you can't establish any connection with the characters due to everything moving at such a rapid pace. Overall this film has no sense of direction and it tires to be a hardcore action film with deep and enticing story, but it just falls flat and the performances by the cast in the film doesn't help matters. I give Sleepless a 0 out of 10.
