My Review of Monster Trucks

So I recently watched Monster Trucks and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (played by Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a monster truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town with a most unlikely friend.

This a very unique film to say the least. From the first looks of the film you could tell that this was going to be a pretty crappy film and it is just that, but there are a few neat little things for everyone to sink their teeth into. It has a Transformers type feel to it, but all of the really bad parts and honestly you can tell that this is 100% geared towards kids. One of the ways you can tell is the humor and all of the jokes are basically poop and pee jokes but instead of using a person, they use a creature that lives inside of a car. That right there is enough to make any film stupid and get a bad review, but there are a few bright spots. One would be the visuals and they look pretty crisp although there are a few moments where it does look a tad sloppy. Performance wise, this film has some pretty bad ones and it's comical to see the actors take this film way too seriously when you're dealing with the type of material they are dealing with. There are some pretty great action scenes in this film which is very surprising and if the humor isn't working for you then the action really will. While the concept is a pretty neat one to put on the big screen, the overall story of the film is utterly ridiculous and it will leave you scratching your head wondering why this film was made. Plus the film is a little misleading in the sense that you as an audience member probably thought this was a film involving such iconic monster trucks like Grave Digger, Destroyer and  Bear Foot, but it is nothing like that in the least little bit. Overall this is a film that is pretty lazy when it comes to storytelling and performances, but visuals and action do give this film some redeeming qualities, but not enough to make this an even remotely good film. I give Monster Trucks a 2 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Monster Trucks, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
