My Review of Eye in the Sky

So I recently watched Eye in the Sky and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Complications arise when a lieutenant general (played by Alan Rickman) and a colonel (played by Helen Mirren) order a drone missile strike to take out a group of terrorists in Nairobi, Kenya.

This is an absolutely heart-pounding film. Right off the bat, it feels a lot like Dr. Strangelove in the sense that it's two countries trying to work together to stop/execute a bombing that could cause a world catastrophe. The film does a great job of switching back and forth between both countries groups and it's a super crisp editing style done by Megan Gill. Gavin Hood is a phenomenal director and he proves it once again by getting the true emotion out of each for the decisions they are making and what the possible consequences are. Helen Mirren gives the most haunting performance of her career and she could easily get nominated for an Oscar. Speaking of Oscar, the one person who definitely deserves some consideration is Alan Rickman who gives a classic performance and it's so heartbreaking knowing that he passed before seeing it. The film does drag on in a few key moments, but it's almost forgivable in the sense that the characters are building the drama in trying to make this decision. There are also some head-scratching moments and you really just don't understand the full reasoning behind them or why they were put in the film. Overall this is a really thrilling film with a lot of great performances, but there are quite a few dull moments that really take you out of the film. I give Eye in the Sky a 9 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Eye in the Sky, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
