My Review of Professor Marston and the Wonder Women

So I recently watched Professor Marston and the Wonder Women and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Professor Marston and the Wonder Women.png

The unconventional life story of Dr. William Marston (played by Luke Evans), Harvard psychologist and inventor, and the relationship between his wife (played by Rebecca Hall) and his lover (played by Bella Heathcote), who became her lover after his death, that inspired the iconic super heroine Wonder Woman.

This is just an absolutely terrific film. Wonder Woman is such an iconic character and she is easily the greatest female superhero of all-time and to see the story behind her creation is one of the more interesting stories you'll ever hear. Luke Evans gives one of the better performances of his career as well as Rebecca Hall who does a great job of portraying Professor Masrton's wife who is honestly the key piece in the entire story as she is the one who allowed this other woman enter their lives and basically be the inspiration for Wonder Woman. The story is portrayed in a way were it goes back a fourth between what was going on and sort of re-account of the story much later down the line and it makes the film feel more compelling as you can see how each part of the past story is still effecting people many years later. One thing that does help this film is that Wonder Woman was released earlier this year and you don't often get to see an adaptation of the character in one film and then see how the character was created in film much later in the year and it both actually helps both films. It's a film that doesn't pull any punches whatsoever with any of the characters and with that you get to see a lot of true emotions pour out as events in the film happen. The biggest thing that hurts the film is that it is very short and a lot of material does feel a bit rushed and they was so much more the filmmakers could've explored to help round the film out. Overall it's a film that gives a great in-depth look as to how one of the most iconic characters was created and it has great performances to go along with it, but in the end the film feels rushed and unfinished to where you don't get too many small details outside of this relationship that would've given a bit better insight. I give Professor Marston and the Wonder Women an 8.5 out of 10.
