So I recently watched Flatliners (2017) and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Five medical students embark on a daring and dangerous experiment to gain insight into the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life. The bold adventure begins when they trigger near-death experiences by stopping their hearts for short periods of time. As their trials become more perilous, each must confront the sins from their past while facing the paranormal consequences of journeying to the other side.
In film there are ones that need to be to remade for a certain reason and there are some that should never be touched and this is one of those films. Now while this remake does fall under the criteria of necessary remake in that it's over 20 years old and that barely nobody saw the original, but in the end there was a reason why nobody saw the original. The film has one of the most creative concepts and in the original film they play off of it so well and they don't take themselves too seriously whereas in this film everything is super serious and it tries to be more a horror film than a psychological thriller. It's really hard to remake a great original concept and try to make it new again as if you're trying to reinvent the wheel. Performance wise we don't get a lot of great solo character moments as we do in the first one and there is really nothing that stands out for each individual character. The original film was a film that left many thinking of does lie past life for each one of us and why we must do thing right things in order to avoid a terrible afterlife and made it a though-provoking film while this film provoked the thought of why did this film get made. There are a couple of nice special effects details in the film and that's all it has going for it despite a terrific cast. Overall this film is just one of those films that shouldn't have been made given how much of an underground success the first film was and to not even mention that film it all is a real shame and you get some atrocious performances from the likes of Ellen Page and Diego Luna. I give Flatliners (2017) a 0.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Flatliners (2017) what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
