So I recently watched Despicable Me 3 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
The mischievous Minions hope that Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) will return to a life of crime after the new boss of the Anti-Villain League fires him. Instead, Gru decides to remain retired and travel to Freedonia to meet his long-lost twin brother (voiced by Steve Carell) for the first time. The reunited siblings soon find themselves in an uneasy alliance to take down the elusive Balthazar Bratt (voiced by Trey Parker), a former 1980s child star who seeks revenge against the world.
This is a pretty funny film and a great way to wrap up a trilogy. The Despicable Me franchise has been hit and miss over the years, but each film has been able to bring it's own unique style of humor that resonates with both adults and children alike and this film has some great humor, but a lot of it isn't what you would expect from a franchise that has done so well. Once again the animation is very crisp and it shows that it is able to continue to develop the scenery into making it more and more realistic. Adding the talents of Trey Parker to a film like this was a fabulous idea and he brings his style of humor to this film from working on South Park and it is tame to a point, but there are some really great moments with his character throughout the film. The best part of the film is once again the minions and they are much more funnier when they aren't the main focal point of the film and there is humor isn't forced down your throat the entire time. Storywise it's a basic plot that adds in a few things that you would expect a trilogy to do such as reveal something that no knew from the previous two films (aka Dru) and they do what they can with the twists and turns, but some of them are pretty predictable and it brings less enjoyment to the film. Overall this is fun film to watch in parts with the standouts being the minions and Trey Parker's character, but overall the film feels very generic in storytelling and humorous moments. I give Despicable Me 3 a 5.5 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Despicable Me 3, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
